Rifle Scopes Help with OLD Bushnell Sportview?

Hi all,

Aside from deer hunting as a kid, I'm an open irons milsurp shooter. I just acquired a 1984-made R700 ADL in .30-06. It has Weaver rings with a 3-9x Bushnell Sportview. I know the Bushnell Sportviews are typically regarded as garbage, but this one appears as old as the rifle (maybe a package 30 years ago?) and looks pretty robust. Aside from windage and elevation and the magnification, there is one rear adjustment ring, I'm checking here, is this simply for a sharp crosshair depending on your eyesight?

Thanks!

Chris, those scopes show up a lot in my local pawnshop. Coincidentally, I just bought a near identical rifle in 30-06. Smooth bolt knob dates it late 70 ' s or early 80's. The scope is more a candidate for a .22 plink er than a deer rifle, but would be fun to play with.

My rifle is about as clean as yours and very accurate without even bedding. Trigger easily adjusted down to about 2.5 pounds.
