I just bought a viper 6.5x20x44 and its my first high dollar scope. The issue im having is getting a clear field of view at higher magnifications. I know its gets harder the higher the magnification but im just having trouble finding that clear view. I haven't mounted it yet and I just been putting on my banister on the porch and looking through it. Maybe im just not looking at it level? Will mounting it help with the field of view? I was hoping not to have this problem that why I spent that much money on a scope. It tends to have shades of grey or blurry. I've tried the parralax and stuff but to no avail. Is it the scope or a lemon that happens? Or this inherent with every scope really

Mount it, adjust for proper eye relief, make sure the comb is high enough to get a good sight picture. Then see if there are issues. Vortex has an excellent lifetime warranty.

I would mount it first that whay you will be steady as possible and can rule out that if its still bad. Other wise if there is something wrong with it Vortex will take care of it for you.

Re: help with vortex viper

On the viper 6-20 i had the mag needed to be backed down for a clear view,it never was perfectly clear at 20x,but other than that it was a great scope.

yeah im having a hard time from like 14x on up finding a clear view. 6.5x looks fine crystal clear. im not sure if its the way im looking through it like i said its not mounted yet. but hopefully that will solve the issue. if that doesnt ill contact them and see what they advise i guess.
