Which Hide Vendor sells lab radar and accessories? Finally taking the dive and want to support those that support us.

Any advice for 1st timers? Interested in hearing about that recoil activator and a good tripod for it too.

    Thanks

MKM does have it and includes one of their sites with it.

Hey thanks guys! I do have them, I also have the tripods in stock, need to update the site. As far as the recoil activated device, don't have them, haven't tried them, but can get a few if folks are interested.

Glad you said you have them in stock, I looked this morning and it said backorder. But I'll be ordering through you for sure!

I've got another big box from Labradar that should be here the end of the week. We need to do a lot of inventory updating...especially when all the levels we just made are back from anodization!

This is where I got mine.

If I bought one do I need the extra trigger device for suppressed 6.5CM?

I didn’t need one for mine. But it does make it finicky for me at least.

Tyler at MKM is great to work with. Wasn't even interested in the LabRadar but it is a pain to setup my magnetospeed on my rifle at times and then it shifts my POI so I can't zero while using it, would be nice to have something that doesn't touch the rifle and isn't called a Chrony :D Does the little tripod really work on windy days, I remember Frank talking about the wind blowing it over a lot, the big flat panel works like a sail to catch wind.

I just started using mine, and with the app, it seems to work quite well. Not sure about their tri-pod (I'm using the RRS mini deluxe one, and it seems okay, but could probably need some weight if it was really blustery). I got mine (or my wife did, actually) specifically for the reasons you stated; POI shift.

ETA: I got mine from Tyler as well. He's GTG.

So for the display, I was watching a video and the guy said one of the things he doesn't like about the LabRadar is that the display will only show one shot at a time? This seems a bit counter intuitive, can anyone with a LR verify if they've fixed this in a firmware update as it would be really beneficial to see all shot velocities from a string, along with average and SD/ES on the same screen. One of the biggest pains with the Magnetospeed is having to go through the menu system to switch between SD and ES.

Pretty sure that on the display itself, it only shows one shot at a time, until the sequence is completed. The app may allow seeing them all as they are collected, but I haven't tried that before(?).

The display only shows the last velocity. When it's in active mode.

When you are done shooting you can either go back to a different menu or on the app and see the shot list and scroll through your last string. It's not as clean or simple as I would like but it does work.

I'm not so concerned that it shows one shot at a time while shooting a string, but when I'm done with the string (say 5 rounds) I'd like to be able to show velocities for the entire string (all 5 shots) and then be able to see High, Low, Average, ES, SD... is that possible?

For those who use the app, is this easier to see with the app?

It is easier to review shot strings in the app in my opinion.

Just saw this in one video, this is exactly what I was hoping for, how easy is it to get to this screen after shooting a series/string?

    A few recommendations...
    1. Read the manual. Especially the part where it discusses standard and low power settings ("TX Power"). The latter is useful on short/indoor/cluttered ranges.
    2. Accept that there is a learning curve. If you take it out the first time and expect it to capture every shot, you're going to come home frustrated.
    3. The recoil-activated trigger is probably a Good Thing for those who frequently share the range with other shooters, as the sound-activated trigger is easily "fooled." For example, if I'm shooting a .223 with no brake, I use sensitivity level 1 or 2 - and a braked rifle 15-20 feet away triggers it, and the unit reports a missed shot.
    4. I find the available external microphone to be a great trigger aid. I almost always shoot more than one rifle in a session and it's far easier to move the microphone to an optimal trigger position than it is to move the entire unit. I'm retired and shoot during the week when I often have the range to myself, so I haven't really needed the recoil-activated trigger (although there have been times when it would have been nice).
    5. The little aiming notch atop the LR is really chintzy for a unit with such great capability. I lay the barrel of a ballpoint pen in the notch to use as a peep sight. You can also buy sights. Anything straight&narrow enough to lay in the notch and sight down will be a big help. See #2 above.
    6. For .22 rimfire, I find it necessary to have the microphone under an inch from the muzzle, sensitivity level 1, handgun mode.
    7. This should be obvious, but unfortunately I've heard about enough incidents that it needs to be said: if you use a LR with a braked rifle, for crying out loud make sure the unit is out of the brake's blast zone.
    8. The phone app can be wonky but, once its nuances are learned, it's far better than toggling the buttons on the unit itself. Again it should be obvious, but some percentage of people forget that Bluetooth only connects to one device at a time... if your phone is connected to your car or earbuds or whatever, it ain'ta gonna connect to your LR.

Ordered from MKM. Looking forward to it, as my main frustration with my MS V3 was switching the rods on my RAT Adapter between braked and suppressed rifles. I have a 12"(?) rod and a 20"(?) rod for use with a suppressor. Constantly taking the bayonet on and off and then removing the rod from the RAT base and changing it over sucked. I'm hoping once I get through the learning curve with this thing that I can Chrono many rifles easily by just plopping down and shooting.

It's a great system once you get accustomed to it. Don't be in a rush when setting it up for the first few times. Follow the instructions that should come along with the unit and you'll be good to go.

This is a big reason for the pursuit of the LabRadar over the MS V3 for me as well, I do not use the RAT adapter but it's still a pain switching between rifles, I shoot mostly suppressed but when I need to measure unsuppressed it can be a real pain especially if the barrel isn't too thick or there's not much barrel to grab. Just the ideal of not having to have anything attached to my rig is preferable.

Ordered my LabRadar from MKM as his comes with his carbon fiber sight which is a slick little tool. Hopefully they'll be in soon, I have a lot of Load Dev to get done and this will make it go a lot quicker (I hope) vs. my MSv3

I got a batch of Labradars in yesterday. Bill got in on the last one! Will have more coming in Tuesday or Wednesday. Labradar might have some slim margins but at least they ship quick. For a small business that allows me to not keep 10grand of product on the shelf that doesn't turn into much more than that when sold.
