I was in a pawn shop/ gun store yesterday and saw a HK USP with $550 on the tag. I have always wanted one so I started talking. It was on consignment and they said he was willing to do $500. I made a counter offer and ended up at $490 out the door. Is that a pretty good deal or am I missing something? It is a real nice very lightly used gun.

Helluva good price assuming the condition is as you described and it had not been monkeyed with, bubba'd, etc. (and that you like the .40 round). My USP and USPc .45acp pistols are the first I generally reach for when the need is there and my USPc is my EDC.

How many mags did it come with? That tends to be what separates many used HK pistols from others that I see (fewer mags can drop the price in a hurry at ~$40+ per mag (even for used ones).

Yep...smokin' deal you got!

Better try and find some spare 13rnd mags (or a Jet Funnel and some 16rd mags) while you can.

Enjoy the new pistol...you should be extremely pleased with it once you have a chance to get some rounds down range.
