Hey guys!.. Pretty impressed with a lot of the DIY stuff in this section.. So I thought I would contribute my pet project for the past month.. :)

I made this display case because I couldnt find anything on the net that was worth my money. :) Its a key-locking case with recessed hinges. Red Felt interior with Adjustable Acrylic pegs. Interior lighting is two part, Red LEDs for the Acrylic front, and white LEDs for the weapons. Both sets of lights are individually dimming.. The acrylic front is sand blasted and edge lit, so the carvings really stand out in the dark.. Both weapons are also locked to the case with Trigger locks, mounted through 1/4" steel plate on the back side, and the entire box is mounted with 4 x 4" lag bolts.. So you MIGHT be able to steal these guns, but you'll have to take a chunk of framing with it.. :) What do you think?

While it does have some entertainment value, and thought went into construction, I've never been one for publicly displaying the firearms I own. They may well be moderately secure, but with all the meth and crack heads running around, I think I'd rather have "things" in a steel box bolted to/through the floor. Yes, they can steal the whole damn safe, but would your setup hold up to a addict with a 3' prybar?

My opinion only.

^^^^^^ Ditto

Very cool though. Keep 'em in the safe when you are gone and in the display when you are home or entertaining guests
Why break the glass though, you have a key...

I think it looks pretty damn good. Some of us don't live in crackhead ravaged parts of america :)

The Resident Evil theme adds some punch to the cool factor (if you're into that).

How did you get the class customized like that?

I think it is a great set up and if you are happy with displaying your weapons.........good for you. I have a couple of weapons hanging on my walls and I love getting to see them everyday.

I think you did a great job and you should be proud of it.

The Gel cells would be pretty cool.. But honestly, those are the least expensive weapons in the house, and not my go-to's in an emergency anyways.. And I used acrylic plexi for the front, because I have kids, and dont want to worry about them breaking the glass.. I suppose the "BREAK GLASS" part would be kinda difficult with plexi :) But I sandblasted the lettering and logos with fine grit AO, and used adhesive vinyl shelving for the resist.. :)

It took myself, two friends, a safe dolly, four thick planks to go over the soft ground, and about an hour of HARD work to get my vault around to the back of the house, and shoe-horned into the "armory". It would probably take four crackheads (or other various sorts of junkies) FAR more work than they are interested in to get the vault out to where they could work on it. My guess is that they would quickly come to the conclusion "Screw this, take something easy to steal like the TV, and let's get out of here."
