Attached is my recent purchase - my very first rifle at 25 yrs old:

Remington 700 XCR Compact Tactical .308 with a Nightforce 5.5-22x56mm NXS NPR1 with the hi speed adjustment turrets and zero stop.

..i love my new gun

..those rounds are just federal tactical 130gr ammo.. just used them to run the barrel in and detonate a few bunnies that were near by. I couldn't believe how easy it was to zero the rifle after only a few shots with the NF.. what a dream scope!

NF=the best sub $2k scope around. My opinion. Good choice.

What they said... scope too high, you should be able to use nightforce's low rings. By the way, very nice rifle.

I almost wrote that in the description - couldn't agree more - schoolboy error getting high Ultralite rings.. I got them almost 50% off and before I got the rifle or the scope. Does the job, though.

Might have to do a trade at some point.

Nice rig. You are starting out well. And avoiding the most common trap many people fall into when getting a new rig...they compromise on quality, and eventually have to sell off the second rate gear, then buy what they wanted in the first place. The problem with doing that is that they are stuck having to try to sell used second class gear, and loose alot of money.

Like the old timer told me: "Buy right the first time and you only cry once."

Buy wrong the first time and you cry twice, or maybe three times...

You did well.

Exactly ! I heard that phrase as "buy once, cry once" and it's been my motto for rifle purchases ever since! Stopped me short of a Schmidt and Bender PMII though - a man has got to have limits lol
