I was getting good results in my LMT MWS with the Hornady 140 gr and 147 gr ELD-M bullets and thought I would try their 130 gr EDL-M bullets. I did a ladder and fired loads with Varget at 35.8, 36.3, 36.8, 37.3, 37.8. I was getting excellent results with 36.3 gr of Varget with groups opening up significantly above 37.8 gr. There were no pressure signs with any of the loads.

I used Hornady’s 10th Edition for all my load data, but was very surprised today to see Hodgdon’s maximum load for a 130 gr bullet with Varget was below Hornady’s minimum load for the same combination. Could this be right?

Always. You absolutely have to pay attention to the components used in the data as well as the coal.
I always do when I reload, but I thought the Hodgdon data was generic because they did not ask about the specific bullet manufacture. Personally I would never use generic information. I always call the manufacturer if I can't find the information I am looking for. Recently I called the Sierra tech because there was no published data on their 6.5CM 130 gr SMK. The tech told it would be acceptable to use the published data for another Sierra 130 gr bullet.
