Anybody have experience with this bullet? Looking for a good .308 plinking/bulk bullet that performs well, for a .308. Hornady says a G1 of .530, probably a little optimistic? Just looking for others experience. I've been getting FGMM 175s for 16.99 per 20 but looking for another option.

I tried them briefly when switching from 168 grain bullets.
They shoot equally well in my 26" 1-12 barrel as the 178amax does and didn't seem to be fussy about jump length but I stayed with the AMAX since I was using the heavier bullet for shooting hogs and allready was familiar with how they performed for that purpose.
AR-COMP powder with either worked best in my rifle in Lapua Palma brass and CCI 450 primer.

I switched to the 178 bthp's last year in my 308. I run them with Varget and they hammer in my 20.5" barrel. They also shot better than the 175smk for me also.
They are my go to .308 bullet. .530 not optomistic. I have shot them to 1020 yards and they held true. They are a very overlooked bullet. I use them in the Hornady Superformance factory load and they care coming out of my 20" at 2805fps. In my Varget load with them they are 2695fps but very accurate. Below is the 5 shot group from 300 yards during load work up. SHot the top on e and adjusted down and shot 4 more. 44grns of Varget works great.
