Does anyone know if these are out yet? Midway has blems that look like they might be close, not sure who else makes a 180 grain with red plastic tips, maybe they're pre-production runs that they ran while setting up the tooling... I'm not sure? I'm pretty anxious to see how these shoot, the BC they're advertising is crazy, it will be fun to see how they stack up against the bergers.

By the way, its so nice to have the old site up and running again, I hope it gets as busy as it used to be. Seems like traffic slowed way down on the Scout site.

Thanks

Glad I only have 300 180 hybrids left to run through. Seeing as how those are for two hunting rifles I should be good to replace them around 2030. Those BCs are phenomenal, at 3200 fps in a 28 Nos it's gonna be tits!

Tracking this as well and curious how they compare to the pre-release "factory seconds" Midway has available:

I tested the Midway version out to 800 and 1000 last weekend and BC is much lower than lowest advertised of 0.368 G7. I'm hoping the production version is completely different.

I have a light weight hunting 7SAUM with a 1:9 twist barrel built around the 160 accubonds and 168 vld hunters.

Anyone have any idea if the 175 eld-x will shoot through my rifle?

I shot some as well out of my 9 twist 7 WSM at 3085fps. The .368 g7 is pretty damn close out to a mile. It's spot on at 1k, but was like 2moa low at 1740. I was shooting in 20mph winds though so it wasn't exactly the best conditions to be testing in.

I am curious about the 1:7.5 twist recommendation as I have boxes from 2 different lots that are labeled 1:8. My 1:8 7WSM loves them

7.5 is to get max BC for the bullet. The 8 will work fine. That is why they give BC data for 7.5 and 8.75 twists in the Hornady BC page I linked above.

This bullet will do wonders for my 8 twist 7mm-08. Quickload predicts over 2600 fps from a 24" barrel. It even outperforms the 162 ELD which I am currently shooting, especially at distance. Can't wait to get my hands these badboys!!

Has anyone spent more time with these? I bought some when they came out but I haven't had time to shoot any. I'm curious if anyone has tested them against the Berger's. Thanks.

Only had these at 600, 700, and 1000 once each. All times they used more elevation than predicted. I will be going back in a week to test against 183s. I'm running a 1-8 twist and used the BCs listed for the 1-8.75.

I've shot them out to a mile now and for my they're more accurate than the Berger Hunting VLD bullets. I haven't compared them to the 180 Hybrid, but these things are stupid accurate out of my WSM

I loaded some 183 SMK to test against these. At 100 yards, they have the same POI, which is good to know for my 1000 yard test.

The 180 ELD seemed more accurate at 100 yards than the 183 SMK.

At 1000 yards, the 180 ELD needed about .1 mil less elevation than the 183 SMK. Maybe not quite .1 so it was very close.

I need .2 mil less than a friend shooting 180 Hybrids at a similar velocity.

Wanting to resurrect this thread. I posted this in the 7 SS thread i made in the reloading thread. I've got a bit of a dilemma. I want to run the 180gr ELD-M at 3000fps give or take, that's the goal. I'm going to order the proof soon. Settled on Sendero Lite according to calculators 1in8 or 1in8.44 will stabilize it. I've been leaning toward 24" because i know all too well i'm going to run it suppressed almost exclusively. That said given the nature of this bullet (long bearing surface) i think it's going to be inherently harder to get it to 3000 than say a 180gr Hybrid. So do i go 26 or 24? On one hand i'm a huge fan of shorter rifles and if i could get away with it i'd love to with the 24" + the omega gives me roughly 31" or 30" OAL of the barrel. Add those two inches and it's the same length as my comp gun with my 9" TBAC. Maybe i should just do 26" with a 1in8?

Scratch that going to stick with 24" as a member on LRH told me and i should know BC is king, chasing 50-70fps for 2" of barrel isn't worth it to me.

For you're respective calibers be it WSM or SAUM or whichever have you all noticed having to drop charge weight or a decrease in velocity of similar charge weight compared to other 180s?
