Sorry for my ignorance, but I feel like somebody here cares enough to help. I'm ready to step up and get a bushing die for my .308. FL die. I'm looking at the Hornady HRN544359. My question- do I have to use a bushing when using this die, or can I just use it "bushing-less"? I'm just asking. This is for my bolt gun.

Without the bushing, you won't be sizing the neck. You'll only be bumping the shoulder and sizing the body.

To see which bushing you need, just measure a loaded round at the neck and subtract .002". Buy that size bushing and one smaller just to be safe.

What brass will you be using? Win will take a 331, Lapua a 334 as well as Rem and Fed brass. Now you're going to hear someone say get the 336 bushing for Lapua brass, well for my blue box Lapua the 336 will not size the neck enough to hold the bullet securely, like hardly nothing at all. And when you order the bushings make sure you get the RCBS Neck Sizer Die Bushing 334 Diameter Tungsten Disulfide
When they have them that is, lol. You'll have to lube the necks with the steel bushings, of course.
