I lucked into an LNL at cabellas the other day and got it all ready to go and noticed on the trial run that the case activated powder drop is misbehaving. When I run the case into it with no powder in the hopper (haven't tried it with powder yet) the arm raises but does not reset when I lower the ram. Just for kicks I took the spring off and it moves smoothly. Is there any problem with leavig the spring off? It doesn't seem to be doing what it is intended to do.

I would call Hornady customer service for something like that. I bet it wouldn't take longer than 10 minutes to get your answer. The spring is just there to help gravity. Good luck.

Yep, I would suggest the same thing...give 'em a call they are helpful people and even though you might not have bought it brand new they will send you whatever you need free. One thing to watch for with that measure is that you will need to remember to clean it out once in a while. It will get powder residue in the drop tube area and start to throw one light charge and then one heavy.

UPDATE - I dropped and weighed 20 throws of powder with .1 grain being the most difference. I took the spring off completely and it works fine.

Edit - I looked up common problems before I put it together and degreased everything. Powder is too scarce to take any chances.

Here's a fun tidbit

For my lee perfect powder thrower I never learned the lesson of not storing powder even for overnight in them. Especially, in this case, it was Bullseye (double base - containing NG).

For the hornady LNL measure, it reacts with the plastic tube, and since hornady coats the inside of at least my particular powder measure, it turned that red paint into a nice sticky mess. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

1hr later, after much trouble getting the plastic tube off, and 1 dremel sanding cylinder thing, and the polishing wheels, It is now paintless and non-stick

Is your tension on the spring too tight? I had issues with mine before and now I set the powder drop to work with the spring off and then put it back on when I am ready. I dont see a problem with loading with it off, but it is just another thing to think about...

if you followed the directions and the dvd video that comes with the press (in which i'm sure you did), you need to rip the entire powder drop apart when you first get it, and remove all of the long term storage oil hopefully using hornady dry lube.... if you don't, then you will have such problems and your gr weight powder drops will be all screwed up.
