Horonady 208 GR, A-Max-For 30-06?

Re: Horonady 208 GR, A-Max-For 30-06?

Its a 30 cal bullet, yes will work in your gun. Good luck on finding any load data. Some will provide some data, these are awesome bullets, but in my opinion the only down fall is the lack of data and the fact that hornady is not going to make any more for a couple months, so finding them is going to be hard. I shoot them in my 300RUM

I think I would look at the 178gr A-Max bullets, they have a BC of .495 and should get at least 2900fps with them. with the 208 A-Max you would be lucky to get 2500-2600fps. Just my 2 cents.
Or look at the 180gr accubonds.

Just split the difference between 200s and 210s. Sierra probably now has data for their newish 210 SMKs, but most guides have 200gr data listed for your work-ups. For a heavier 208 class, you'll probably want to start slightly lower than the minimum for a 200gr tip.

If you get some look at RL17 (start at 51gr) and RL22 (start at 56gr) as the powders to drive it with. Depending on barrel length you'll range between 2700 and 2900 fps.

MontanaMarine gets in the 27's with his 22.5" barreled rifle, I get in the upper 28's with my 26" barreled rifle.

For the 178 Amax the real G1 is ~ 0.475 and it will like H4350 (start at 54gr) or H4831sc (start at 56gr) or RL17 (start at 54gr) to drive the bullet the best. I get 2925-2950 from the 178 with H4350.
