I noticed the Horus ballistic app available for download over the weekend so I downloaded it just to play around. I won't have time to use it in a real world scenario for a couple of weeks but wondered if others had? Looks to be built specifically for using the Horus reticles as ballistic reticles without much dialing (which I guess makes sense as I assume most use it in this manner).

Just getting a thread going for thoughts....

Are you talking about A Trag?

No its a new app for iOS and Droid

    ETA: Here is a link

I realize tech changes, and I think Todd is a genius. That being said I bought a Horus Kestrel and its basically outdated now. I feel burned by them and I'm not sure if I'll be going back. I'll try an App, but using their equipment is not an investment I want to make.

I deal with tech in my job daily and anytime you get some company that wants to lock you into their shit, I run the other way. Proprietary software/hardware turns into a bottle neck and a real waste of money long term. I don't care whose stuff it is, if it works via bluetooth (or any other open protocol for that matter) it can be useful even if you don't like the total package. I try to use "best of breed" products that you can mix and match together to get the best of all worlds.
The Horus reticles are ok but just not my cup of tea. There are a ton of options out there for reticles, paying the extra $$$ for Horus reticles isn't what it used to be.
I was somewhat disappointed in the ballistic app as it is really a companion piece to only the other Horus products. I get it, they want to sell their own products. Sig has pretty much done the same with their app, it only works with their scopes not even as a stand alone.
