Rifle Scopes Horus Vision Technical Support?

    So,

    I'm generally posting this question to see if anyone actually knows the folks a Horus, and can enlighten us about the situation there...

    The Question: Is their product support slow or just plain crappy?

    I recently purchased one of their products and this guy "Larry," is basically ignoring me. (I've called and emailed enough that there is no acceptinle accuse for not getting back to me.)

    Is this typical?

    A buddy of mine had break on him after just a couple months of use; took three months to have it fixed, it broke again and now it's a paperweight as the warranty is out.

    While a couple of their scopes look neat to me (the blackbird 1.5-8 especially) no way in hell am I buying one until they get some real support.

    Their support is pretty bad, I have two of their scopes, they still work, (knock on wood) but I will never buy another one because of the warranty and CS.

    Are you serious? I knew that they were bad but this is more like theft than bad CS.

    It's exactly the sort of thing we can use to have them banned from government purchasing.

    I'm looking into if are used by us in any sort quantity.

    Their reticles are in widespread use by our military. I bet there are easily 20k reticles out there in use and the Army is gung ho for the Horus system. ATRAG is also the adopted solver at this time.

    I know, I do t understand.

    I wanna say they're too busy dealing with mil contracts, but the reticles are used, not the scopes. So it can't be

    You k kw, I don't understand their strategy. They could have so much more profit if their cs was better. That's from listening to feedback to keeping up with warranty.

    I'm not sure what can be done about warranties from 7 years... You could argue and say it's not a reasonable time, but not sire how their warranty is written out if someone wanted to sue.

    I think that will buy me some leverage... I'm sure the General I work for may be willing to make a phone call.

Because when we all say they don't care it's because they really, really appear not to care in the slightest. Almost in the way that someone who has already made his fortune wouldn't care about making it again.

    Which part of that is about to change?

    Horus Vision not returning calls?

    Or Horus Vision making a ton of cash from the military?

    Ton of cash from the military... With the exception of very special cases everything is being slashed.

    Bad press is like a weight around your neck, at some point it'll come back to haunt them. Especially, when senior decision makers start looking for alternatives, etc.

    Now that would be damn funny. I'm sure that in passing our 4 star will hear about this, but I don't presume to tell him or direct subordinates what to do. -grin- My job is simply to report the situation as it appears.

    If Horus is ignoring their civi customers because their doing something so massively important for the warfighter, there ain't much to say.... But if I can post a message on a public site have replies from one of the most respected persons on this board in minutes, then Horus quite probably has a track record of misconduct that stretches back years.

    Given that they are approximately a ~2.5 million company, they're not really big enough to not be replaced.

    Hell, reticles aside, everything else can be replaced without issue using off the shelf components.

    PS If ATRAG is in wide use with the military, I would doubt that the military version is exactly the same. Also, any competent contracting officer would have made SURE to secure the rights to the code and general system
    specifications. (Though the USG has the right to use whatever they require without restriction even in cases of patent protection or copywrite...)

    I have a chip and the chip that it replaced as well as both palms that recieved the famous "Fatal "Error" and are useless. I am really not sure I can afford them to replace mine!! But I do continue to wait on a the return call,It's only been a couple years.

    Here is my bad story I bought Atrag card for a class demo that I could not get to work it arrived a couple weeks before the class. After calling and talking to what sounded like a dumb blonde chick in tech support who everytime I asked question covered the phone mouth piece to ask somebody else the question, I asked if I could speak to the techinician she was talking to and she said he was to busy. Well we concluded that the card was bad. The problem was that they would not just send me another card they had to have the old card returned. Or they could send me another and charge me for 2 and give me credit for the bad one when they get it. So being the dope that I am and the anal tech head that had to be expert on all balisic programs I got a second one on the way next day air to have it for the class. So I get the second one and same thing no go. I did figure out the problem though I was trying to use the SD card in a SD to compact flash card reader so I could use it in a recon and nomad. I called them after the class to explain what happen and did get though to the tech guy that time who basically told me I was dumb shit and should have ordered the right card the first time. I explained that I thought that SD would be more versital and able to use on differnt machines. So I send the cards back origally thinking I would get get credit for one and CF card for second one. This is were shit turns real bad. Six months of back and forth bullshit phone calls of we have not recieved your package, we moved and we have not had chance to check our mail. I did have USPS insurance and signed delivery confirmation, blah, blah, I just contacted my credit card company and got refund that way. Kinda shame I have a couple of friends that run the software and it works, and I really like the hours reticle but dang show us buying customers a little love
