Need more facts on this story and less liberal bullshit .

So a guest gets drunk in a hotels bar, wow.
If it was a bar aka area 51 and he was carrying he is screwed.
If it was a bar and grill, not so much, differant charge, over limit on booze while carrying if he was licensed.

Tresspassing ? He was a guest of the hotell.
Arsenal? 3 guns? Ihave 4 within eye site in my living room 2 9,s a 380 and 357 revolver, guess the news crew would shit themselves!
Wait forgot my wifes 45 in the purse.

I looked up hyatt websete and under thier firearms policy for guests section it is blank no explination of it.

I dont go anywhere posted and spend my money! One exception in 2017 a bar to see Ted Nugent.

    When does this stop?

Having trouble pasting a link from this tablet.

That is why I carry a nice 5.5" dagger for those rare times I have to go somewhere I can't take my pistol.

    Houston went nuts long ago.

Under Texas Castle Law the hotel room in your domicile while you are there, therefore anything you can have at home, you can have in the room. I've rolled a Pelican 1750 right through the lobby of many a Texas hotel. In the bar is another story. And I have not done that since Vegas.

I may or may not have had more than one Texas LEO say F-that 30.06 sign, carry everywhere.

The Texas nife laws were revised in 2017 in September http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/07/11/texas-law-will-allow-open-carry-knives-swords.html
The vegas thing had a lot to do with Houston PD,s overreacting on the whole deal, in my opinion.

Like Ron White famously said " I wasn't drunk in public I was drunk in a bar, they threw me into public".
They had the rite to remove the guy being an ass from thier property!
But 4the rest of it was crap.

Been to Vegas you could open carry without a license thier license laws were not reciprocal.
As soon as a leo in texas gets hold of your car tag or dl number they now if you have a permit to carry when they call it in.

If the guy had a gun in a bar 51 area he is toast, if not it,s just crap liberal crying.

Maybe he sues the bar for overserving him?

    Hi,

That "Castle Law" is negated as soon as you are asked to leave the property, which the hotel has every right to do.

Once you do not leave when told to then in fact you are trespassing...now your trespassing with firearms at a public event that already has a heightened security due to huge party being hosted.

    Sincerely,
    THEIS

W54, weapon carry is governed by state law. Open carry of a firearm in Texas, no problem...carrying a double edged dagger...go straight to jail.

Thank you very much for your post, I appreciate the warning.

Recently thanks to the dedicated lobbying of the knife groups most of the arcane and idiotic provisions in the state law regarding knives were overturned.
There are now no more "Knife Design" limitations on blade type, how many sides are sharp etc.
(Except I can't carry my Tomahawk around, and apparently no brass knuckles on your knife handle as it's wrong to both beat and stab someone.)
The only current restriction is a compromise slipped in at the last moment where knives over 5.5" are now "location restricted" knives and can't be carried pretty much anywhere you can't go with your carry license. If you are under 18 then you can't publically carry knives over 5.5"

I'm sure there are probably some police officers out there that don't yet fully understand it, since it just came into effect September 1st this year, so you may want to familiarize yourself with:

    https://kniferights.org/hb-1935-bottom-line/

    http://www.legis.state.tx.us/tlodocs/85R/billtext/pdf/HB01935E.pdf

There is also State Law Preemption of any attempt by localities to pass more restrictive ordinances.

If you have some extra cash for donations to charity, considering donating to knife rights as they fight to remove the last remaining restrictions both in this state and also at the Federal level.

If however I am overlooking anything in the law, please let me know as I try to always stay within the letter of the law to avoid trouble.

Right. If asked to leave, and they comply, life will be much better for the person. If asked to leave, and refuse, well it could be become the worst day of someone's life.

Down here in Florida I can carry in an establishment the serves alcohol. I just cannot legally sit at the bar but must sit at a table separate from the bar. I fail to see the distinction but comply nevertheless.
When going to a shooting event, I may have far more than 3 guns with me and far more than a substantial amount of ammo. It will be cased and bagged on my way through the lobby and only my daily carry will be readily accessible.
Trespass is a different issue. I don't get drunk anymore, I am rarely loud or obnoxious so I never get asked to leave an establishment. I presume I would comply. I'm way too old for any hassles.
