Hello all, I just escaped So Cal a month ago to the Houston area for work (Chevron refinery). I’m currently in Webster but am having a house built in Pearland. I have a .223 AI inbound and will be looking to take it out soon. If anyone is interested in showing a new Tx shooter around I’d appreciate it. After-shooting beer and pizza on me! Lol

Welcome to The great state of Texas Fitz and congratulations on the escape from CA!

I can show you BASC in Crosby, TX. We have several ranges there, longest one 600 yards. On a cruise right now but should be home soon if we don't pull a Titanic.

PM me if you wish and we can meet you or just visit about Housron.

Steve

Bayou rifles Juliff is the place to be at I hear. I will try to get in on their memberships if I can. Never been, but I hear they have one of the best facilities you could find and they have multiple distance ranges that go out to 1000 yards...

I’m a member of Bayou Rifles. I‘d be glad to have any of you as a guest on my next range trip.

Man that would be really awesome. You don't know how bad I want to shoot at 1000.

The few times I've attempted, I was solo with no spotter, it was always around sunset so the sun was straight in my face, and I was just having a hard time connecting or simply spotting for myself.

Same here.... the one time I did go out to 1k I had a hard time spotting trace and with no backstop I didn’t make corrections very well.

I am new to the Houston area and originally from Long Beach, Ca. in So Cal most ranges have backstops so it is fairly easy to make corrections. Man, it was a totally different animal here.

Hey Houston Shooters!

I just got into PRS and shot CCC's match on 3/14. It was a great time, even though I did terrible. The people there were very helpful. They had 80-85 shooters, about 40 were new to the sport. I just got the DFAT for quarantine. I'm in the Tomball area.

I hope to get into PRS soon myself.... I hope you had a good time

I’m to the south by lake Jackson but would like to shoot with other LR enthusiasts.
LJ huh ? I'm over close to the big city of sweeny. Used to be a member at Greenwood but the club started in a direction I didnt care for. I can shoot 300 yards at the house so I dropped out. Kind of wish I hadn't now. Only thing I went out there for in the end was the 600 yard range.

Nice, yeah I use it for the longer ranges. Not the biggest fan of public ranges. I have seen way to many idiots, but I only have out to 200 yds. For sight in and load development I use a friends place close to the house as well. Work at P66 or CPC?
Contractor working at cpc at the moment.

It is nice to see an active shooting community here in Houston. I just moved here from Florida (originally from Southern California though) and am looking for places to shoot.

Currently I'm staying in Kingwood so I'm an hour from ASC, a little more than an hour from Navasota, and about 45 minutes from Baytown.

@Stevo3556, I'm really most interested in your range setup. I've shot at places like it before and appreciate the flexibility it allows. I have about 10 AR-500 targets and hangers of various sizes to use. I also just retired from 20+ years in the Army including being Special Forces and a Sniper. You shouldn't need to babysit me too much and we should be able to work on pistol/carbine/LR instead. The biggest problem currently is most of my stuff is in storage until I can get a new job, buy another house out here and set all my reloading stuff back up.
