I don't mean this to sound like a negative post about this scope in anyway as it's not. This scope has been great, it tracks wonderfully, and seems very durable. However, I think I must be the only guy in the world that has a SWFA SS 3-9x42 that's eyes don't work with the glass.

How close is it in focus for you guys? I've found at 50 yards, it's just really out of focus looking, and it's pretty hard to see bullet holes on any of the higher powers. At 100 yards it's focused better, but it's still hard to see bullet holes with it on 9x as it just doesn't look clear like it should to me. I can't see bullet holes that I can see fine with my other scopes. It also has slight distortion around the edges. Honestly, I'm at a loss as my Burris FFII's and Nikon Monarchs I have on my other rifles blow the glass in this thing away, and from what I've read it should definitely be the other way around. I want to make sure that I'm not missing something simple on here. I used the rear eye piece focus to focus the reticle like normal. Being this is going to be on my rifle I'm going to use hunting it kind of worries me as the season starts in 2 weeks, and I'm kind of worried about how it will do in the field.

Does yours focus at 50 yards, or is it out of focus at that close range? At 100 yards, it's not nearly as bad, but it's still not what I expected. Is there anything I'm missing here?

Mine focuses great at 50 yards. I have it on a 22 LR an use it at 50 quite a bit for target shooting. I've used it for small varmints at much closer than that... 25 yards is no problem.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: SWFA</div><div class="ubbcode-body">How did you focus the ocular? </div></div>I did the normal trick of looking at a white wall quickly and adjusting it so that the reticle was sharpest. I then took my eye off of it and brought it back several times to check it.

I'm wondering now though, is this proper with this scope, or does the ocular adjust the focus on this one? I'm thinking it's got to be something like this that I'm doing totally wrong.

One other really dumb question. Will changing the ocular settings effect the POI? In other words can I change the ocular settings in the field without problems? I know this is a dumb question, but it's one I've never worried about as I've always just had to set them and I've never messed with them again.
