How do you carry your grease/lube safely ?

I imagine someone on here has solved this problem before and can save me some headache in the future.

I'm looking for a 'water tight' container of some sort that I can use to store the grease and lube I take with me to the range. I was using my 'tactical ziplock bags' but that failed on me today and leaked all the hell over my bag.

I'm looking to store the 2 oz MC2500 spray bottle and the 1.5 oz TW25B tube of grease - NOT the syringes.

Anyone have a simple and cheap solution to this ?

Re: How do you carry your grease/lube safely ?

Both are good ideas. I can use that with my supply of tactical ziplock bags too.

Thanks for the ideas. Keep 'em coming!

Ha ha...and here I was, just waiting for Vajayjaypunisher or Shankster to comment that they carry theirs in their prison purse.

One of the good things about POF is they require no lube.

This! I do the same thing, they hold more then you think. Good to put small parts and tools in as well.

Film what? I'll have to find an antique store and see if they have any of those relics

I was gonna go that route. You beat me to it.

On a serious note. How about what it came in? Most lube I use comes in an assortment of sizes. Buy the small one for emergencies and a large one for general purpose. I think the manufactor has, in most cases, a good container. The container has to be handled by a disgruntled dock hand into truck. Driven across the country by a trucker, then stocked by a guy/gal making 8.15 an hour. If it makes to you intact, WINNER.

Do your gun maintenance at home, not the range.

If for some reason you run dry or come across someone that has run dry at the range, just go pull the power steering pump dipstick out of your car or truck and dab a little lube on the problem.

Re: How do you carry your grease/lube safely ?

2" PVC pipe cut to length with a glue on cap on one end and a thread on cap at the other. Bombproof for stuff you absolutely have to protect but don't make too many, it gets heavy fast.

Re: How do you carry your grease/lube safely ?

Use a small pelican case. Put your 2oz. bottle inside and don't worry about it. I've used pelican cases for carrying blasting caps in the same bag with 1 1/4 lbs. sticks of C4, so I would definitely trust it to carry some lube.

Re: How do you carry your grease/lube safely ?

I have a syringe with the largest diameter needle on it I could find full of grease. This is stored inside a little plastic locking case that x39 ammo used to come it. I can put as much/little as I want right where I want it.

sort of similar, I use a full size pelican 1750 to accomodate for ALL my lubing desires

Re: How do you carry your grease/lube safely ?

I carry all my cleaning supplies inside a 1 gallon ziplock bag. Items such as lube and patches are stored in their individual smaller ziplock bags. They sell tougher water tight bags in some stores you preppers know what im talking about those seem like a excellent way to store gun lube but I've never had an issue with a small ziplock inside a bigger ziplock.

Re: How do you carry your grease/lube safely ?

I made a trip to the local drug store for different size pill vials, the ones with the child proof caps we cant open. Patches, jags, frog lube, bore snake any of this fits and the containers dont leak.

Re: How do you carry your grease/lube safely ?

Request a free sample of lube and grease from Militec. If you don't like the lube or the grease, just clean them out and fill with the products of your choice. If memory serves me right, the lube comes in 1/2 oz. squeeze bottle and the grease in a 1 oz. little tub. These work great for your cleaning kit and are small enough to take to the range. Have never had a problem with either leaking, but a quart freezer zip lock bag would offer insurance.

I actually requested and bought several of Militec's small bottles just so I could fill them with the lube I use. I keep a 16 oz. bottle of steel shieild weapons lube and fill my little bottles.

Another option for keeping grease is to ask a friend who wears contacts to give you a couple of their old contact cases with the screw on caps. Cut them apart and put a little grease in one. I use one of these homemade cases at work to keep vicks vapor rub in to put vicks under my nose in case we have to go into a unpleasant smelling medical scene. Works great! Should work great to hold grease also - enough for a range session or two and takes up almost no space.

Small bottle and 1/2 contact case fits inside a altoids tin or old round shoe polish tin taking up almost no space.

2 oz use a 5 hour energy drink. It seals tight, keeps light out, handy etc. for a few more oz use the Subaru coolant conditioner. They are REAL cheap (like $2) Empty it and use that. Same properties as the 5 hour but it is tougher and you can store more of them nice and flat.

Re: How do you carry your grease/lube safely ?

Dont be THAT guy at the range that has two packs of junk/shit for one rifle, the same guy that ties up a table for an hour or more and takes 30 mins of diging through all of his shit for a bottle hoppes 9 and only fires 5 rounds

Unless you buy your lube in 5 gallon buckets the bottle it came in should be fine,or get a eyedrop bottle remove the spout/tip pour out the drops and add your lube then place in a ziplock bag with a small rag and some patches and leave it in your range bag
less is more dont bring the kitchen sink to the range

Re: How do you carry your grease/lube safely ?

Oil sample bottles from work. ExxonMobil sends us them for sampling service. These things are about 6 oz and mail proof. Pretty indestructible and cheap (free) Nothing better than free!

+1

If your gun can't survive a couple range trips without dutiful oiling, something's not right...

Re: How do you carry your grease/lube safely ?

I use these:

The big bonus is, they come with free candy! Available in tactical black, if you look hard enough. It's also handy to use the different colors to identify contents. Reeses makes a mini container that holds a Boresnake quite nicely, but it's not leak-proof.

CLASSIC! LOL!

Re: How do you carry your grease/lube safely ?

I use little bottles for lenses cleaning. Just clean them first and then label them. For grease I use a very small tub that they used back in the m1 m14 days. Have about 6 of the m1carbine grease tubes. One of those are always in the range bag.

Do not listen to those dinks be that guy. It sucks when you are at the range and you need something that is at home because you think you did not need your bag.

Re: How do you carry your grease/lube safely ?

Metal cigar tube with the screw on top. For grease I use the milsurp stuff in the little tub with the yellow screw off/on top. These fit perfectly in the cigar tube.

I also bought 100 plastic dropper bottles several years ago that hold 1/2 to 1 oz of hoppes, clp etc. etc.. These dropper bottles also fit nicely in the tube. A little teflon tape on all threads helps everything.
