I realize this might really belong in the optics forum since I'm asking about glass. However, I'm more interested in how the folks here with a .22lr trainer pick their glass?
I have my CMP 40X in and I'll need to order a rail and some mounts. My rifle right now is a bone stock 700 SPS-V in .308. It will soon be living in an AICS chassis. It currently has a 4-14x Falcon mil/mil.
I suppose in an ideal world, I would put another Falcon on here but I'm not real certain I want to drop more $$ into my trainer. Ideally, I'd like to upgrade my glass on my 700 and then move the Falcon over to the trainer. Tax season will determine how fast this happens.
So, how are you guys picking glass for your trainer? Are you biting the bullet ( pun intended ) and matching between the two or are you stepping down a bit for the trainer?
I have easy access to a 300 yard range but I really don't see myself shooting a .22lr at 300. I imagine most of it will be at 100 or most likely 50. I suppose I'm not terribly concerned about elevation adjustments.
I appreciate your advice and experiences.
