How does 220-grain .300 WIN MAG compare to 190-gra

Re: How does 220-grain .300 WIN MAG compare to 190-gra

I use the 190gr matchking with 72.5 gr of reloader 22
GM215M primers and lapua brass( cant find it anymore ).
I shoot this load in a remington sendero that is stock but for
the trigger ,and I had a brake added ( dang thing hit harder
that my .338 ).
Shoots 3/8" at 100 for 5 rnds, have shot this rifle to 1400 yards and it has not failed to do it's job if I hold up my end of the work.

Got a sendero that I have worked up a good load for the bergers 190s. Took a deer out at 1150 yards this past winter. Just bought some bergers 230s hoping to work up a load soon anyone have experience with these using imr 4831

I've shot the 330gr boreriders out of the 375CT... I'm sure Steve has too.

After reading somewhere that somebody had trouble with them at range, I was a bit concerned but, honestly, they shot fine out to 1830 but, I'm still new to this rifle... from what I could tell the LeHigh bullets did well. I'll test other solids but, I was very happy with the results.

I'm interested in this bullet for my 300wm too! The fact that you're going to get EXTRA high velocity just because it's a solid and add to that that you're only shooting 192gr bullet.... yep, ought to be a long range thumper.

yeah me and a buddy did it with his remington long range tactical in 300 win his ran 40 yards and mine ran 30 yards. Had a 308 at the time and had to sell and get me a sendero lol

"What kind of range and accuracy can be expected from 220-grain .300 Winchester Magnum factory Match loads , as well as 190-grain ? Platform would be a 26" bolt-action . Thanks in advance ..."

The red indicates subsonic MV/round drop. I have shot both rounds extensively and have also done hot and cold testing with both.
BLUF: 220gr uses temperature insensitive powder vs the 190gr which is temperature sensitive. That alone will effect your MV's on up to 100fps in ambient temperatures, although I have hit 1460-1500 yds w/ 190's. 220 accuracy is excellent and within 1MOA at extended distances, given a decent shooter. Note that some chambers are not willing to accept the 220, they have a hard time extracting. Optimally you would want to ream your chamber to 220gr ammo specs if that is what you will primarily be using. With all that said, given the choice I will shoot 220's any day over 190's.

It's faster than the 190, uses less dope across the board and beats the wind better.

Lowlight, what do you do with all that brass?

Re: How does 220-grain .300 WIN MAG compare to 190-gra

I'll load any bullet you want in the 300WM. I've done 190, 200, 220, 240 SMK, 210 VLD's and 208 A-max's. They all are hammers. I personally like the 190 SMK, since it shoots so well and is fast and flat. But the 208 A-max and 210 VLD are king when it comes to 1000 + yards. I love the 300WM, and know it very well.
Would you be interested in doing some 208s with 73.9 of H1000 and OAL of 3.555?
