I've searched and didn't really come up with the answer I was looking for, or at lest something that was clear to me. I'm new to long range shooting and eventually would like to hit a 1000yrds. I'm using a Remington 700 SPS .308, EGW 0 MOA base, SWFA rings, and SWFA SS fixed 10x scope with 100yrd zero. Is that possible with my setup? I've read alot about 20 MOA bases and am now thinking I should have gone with that. What would be a max range I can get out of this rig? I'm pretty sure I might be getting ahead of myself and should just work on taking it out to 500, but I figured I would ask.

Re: How far can I shoot?

You'll probably only need 42-45 moa to get there, but it will depend greatly on what bullet you're using. Use a 20moa base so you won't have to dial as much elevation and can utilize more windage if needed.

Re: How far can I shoot?

You will not need to holdover with that setup. And having a 20 MOA base will not make it so you do not have to dial up as much. Not sure what the heck he is talking about. If you have do dial in 38 MOA you have to dial in 38 MOA whether it is a flat base or a canted base makes no difference.

Re: How far can I shoot?

Kind of depends on how much elevation you burned up zeroing the rifle as well. You can always give your elevation knob a few twists and see where it bottoms out. Remember, dont force it, and count your revolutions from zero, this will give you YOUR rifle and scope combos max available elevation you can dial, and remember, you always have holdovers........
