Maggie’s How many of you guys have been caught by you wives/girlfriends?

    So there I was in the garage. My buddy and I were employing the sponge technique. I touched it a little, then he touched it a little. The end result was brilliant.

    Until my wife came into the garage. She laughed, and ran back into the house. When she returned she was carrying her box of craft supplies. It was replete with her favorite paints, and stick on crystals. She thought we could use them to "Decorate" our guns. She still gets a kick out of it... often bringing it up at dinner with friends.


    So how many of you guys have be caught painting, or "decorating" your guns. What's your story?

    My wife thought I was an idiot... standing there with my assortment of sea sponges, and Rustoleum. She even took a picture of us. BTW it was me and a buddy, because it was his stock.

    im with Sledge, i am always 'incognito' when attempting a project such as this. except, when my wife finds me...she stands there like judge and jury saying "your gunna f#ck it up" "i dont like it" "why dont you leave it the way it is" ... then after the fact she is always like "yeahh that actually looks good, im impressed" needless to say, she does not have much faith in my artistic endeavors (i think its a woman thing)

    My wife just kept saying you spent all that money on that rifle and your going to use spray paint? To which I replied I will gladly send it off and pay someone $200+ to paint it. After that she was fine with spray paint.

    Dear Penthouse: I never thought this would happen to me but my girlfriend caught me with her best friend's daughter and her classmate using an airbrush the other day in a compromising position. We were working on a . . .

    strawberry and sunflower finish for her TRG-22

    Could be worse... wife busted me when packages from mid south, natchez, midway, powder valley, and third gen showed up one after the other one week... I had to admit I had a problem

    Just tell her you have joined a support group called Snipers Hide and that we are helping you deal with your problem.

    "Hey buddy can you spare a hundred so I can buy some groceries?"

    "You ain't gonna buy gun stuff with it are you?"

    "Hell no! I got gun stuff money!"

    Yep, you know how it is. I keep the most recent Midway flyer in the rack above the toilet paper.

    THANKFULLY, my girlfriend has never caught me with my wife, though I think she suspects something! But, LUCKILY neither of them have any complaints about sharing me with my gun hobby....not the actual activity, anyhow. My wife DOES sometimes get a little on the sarcastic side about the money I put into guns, accessories, reloading, match fees, hotel and fuel costs related to going to matches or just shooting, magazines and even the fact that I have a whole room in the house pretty much dedicated to gun hobbies/reloading in spite of the fact that it is a FOUR bedroom house and only the two of us live here...eek:

    I like the turn this thread has taken. Truth is there is a similarity between them; shooting, girlfriends, and the potential triangle complications with ones wife.

    My wife supports my shooting hobbies but it's still a balance between them.

    Lash, I am also fortunate that my wife enjoys hunting and shooting. However she does not enjoy the thousands of dollars I've spent in the past 10 months to keep us in the sport. Sometimes she just doesn't understand the urgency of buying while you can get it.

    I have had a PO box for 20 years, for this very reason. Wife usually has to be asked to "go by the post office", I know when NOT to ask her to pick up the mail. Yeah...it's just that simple. Of course USPS won't handle powder, primers and ammunition but that is not a problem. There are very few places in this country that a "day trip" will not take care of ones powder and primer needs.

    You need to diversify your ship-to addresses. Mixing it up between, work, PO Box, a "friends" house, and home.

    My wife knows when Im doing it.... you know..... in the garage..... really getting after it, pummeling with a white knuckled fist, dust flying around, leaving a nice film on the car, bikes, ect. She rolls her eyes, gives me a look of disgust, and goes back in the house. Hours later, after its gets dark, a good sweat ring around the collar, masking tape bits stuck all over, mosquito bites, a bloody knuckle or two, usually dark spots on the hands, I come back in to show my triumph. her reaction usually is disappointing, so I just go down to the cave to relish my handiwork.
