Just started shooting my new 6xc today. Virgin alpha brass. Br-2 primer. 39.0g H4350. 105 berger hybrid. Speed was pretty erratic, probably new brass. Velocity was 2880-2915. Load was warm, but not max however wanting to run 3050f/s. Theres a little room to go up on charge. Wondering how much the benchmark will speed up. How much has yall sped up and usually how many rounds down the tube.

Yeah I wasn’t planning on doing load development until I fired my 300 rounds of virgin brass. Just running 39.0g h4350 until I get all the brass fired once. Then tweak load. Only thing it seems like after 300 rounds Ill be almost a quarter through the barrel life. Would you fire all 300 cases once. I was thinking of just doing 200 then doing load development. Save the other 100 for the next barrel.

yeah something like that - or even just loading those other 100 once you kind of have an idea of where you load is with brass that is going to be sized based on your chamber.

Did you start with new alpha brass? I didn’t do any prep. Just primer and loaded 39.0 g. Had pretty high sd/es. Did you notice higj es/sd with your alpha brass
Yes, I used virgin brass. I did not see a high SD but I did run an expander mandrel through the neck before loading them. I noticed that they have a lot of neck tension when new.

I ran my remaining unloaded virgin brass through the 6xcII redding type s die (just the neck) with a floating nitride expander ball to hopefully help make neck tension more consistent. Not really chasing load development yet but your way made me think about going ahead and doing it.

Not sure I can help you there. I’m shooting the 115gr DTAC at 2927fps and it’s been a hammer when fire forming the Winchester brass (shooting the 243 Imp30). Accuracy seems to be the same with fire formed brass. I’m using H1000.
