How much H1000 are you using to push a 300gr bullet(.338LM)?

I am close to max via the Sierra manual but just wanted to see what you guys were running. Anyone ever have pressure issues? If so, at what charge weight?

89.5 g of H1000 & Berger 300 in Lapua cases getting 2700+- fps in my piece of shit Stuckvage (savage) but that's a whole different subject.

Lapua Brass
91.0 gr H1000
F215
300gr OTMs seem to work for me
I'm currently playing with the seating depth to tighten up the groups and I also have a ^^^ Stuckvage that's I'm not too happy with.

87.5gr H1000
FGMM mag primers
Lapua brass
300gr Scenars
30" Chanlynn @ 2830 .3@100 I don't need to over pressure with this bbl but did @ 91.5gr @2920fps but didn't group well at all

I've been using 92grs for a 300gr SMK @ 2700 out of a 26" bbl. Groups are 1/4 MOA. Yall are making me feel like I'm going overboard. Anyone use 92grs?

Max in the Sierra manual is 92.2grs of H1000.

I started doing work ups this week. Using lapua brass, fed 215 primers, 300 gr smk. Started seeing pressure signs around 89 gr. In my DTA. Went up to 91 but was getting sticky bolt lift and noticeable extractor marks. Think I'm going to play with the 87-88 range, seemed to be grouping well there.

I haven't gone above 89 yet, but I've switched to RL33 and I'm liking that at 94gr.

Whats wrong with your savage?

Don't go by older Sierra manuals and CDs when trimming cases.

Also my 110BA has a need for cases .010 shorter than some new brass mfg's produce also,
but not Lapua brass.

If you buy new Hornady case and point.

300gr Lapua Scenar
92gr H1000
Lapua Brass
Fed 215 primers
C.O.L. 3.700" but experimenting with longer
2817fps Measured at the muzzle (magnetospeed)

I was starting to see some pressure signs @ 91.0 gr. H1000 in my rifle with 300 gr Bergers, -0.005" lands, Lapua brass.
My pet load is:

89.5 gr. H1000
Lapua brass
300 gr. Berger
Fed 215
-0.005 off lands (2.976" @ogive)
2794 avg vel. in Savage 110BA (Magnetospeed)
No stuck cases here, works in my gun doesn't mean will work in your gun, YMMV.

I have not had any stuck cases, or obvious signs of pressure either (crossing fingers) with the 92gr. I am not really pushing the lands with the scenars as you are with the bergers, wondering it that might be why you are getting that velocity with 2.5gr less powder?

I really wanted the bergers to work with my 338, they work GREAT in my 308. I worked with pushing the lands and various tweaks and never got much better than 3/4 MOA. First time I loaded the Scenars I was getting < 3/4 down to < 1/2 MOA with my final loads, so I just got stuck on the scenars.

I'm getting very nice groups and haven't even tried changing the jump, -0.005 was just where I started and when I found a node at 89.0 - 89.5, I just haven't tried anything else. It seems to shooting better at this point than I am. :-\

Sounds great to me. I would be happy to have a little lighter load and hit a good node and still have a decent velocity. Of course that is the grail we chase right?

Don't have any H1000.
However, did have my first stuck case just last week.
94 grs N570, 300gr Berger OTM, don't remember OAL (3.8__) -- way longer than my magazine.

Hammered it out with at 5/16" dowel and a 4# sledge. Based on the extractor dog being at 3:00 when the bolt is up, the sicking point in the barrel is at ~8:45
Take a look at the tracks across this case. The skipping is the binding that resulted with each pounding of my hammer.

Called Savage customer service and told them about it. Nice lady on the phone, but she warned me, "we use Black Hills ammunition. If we fire a round in your gun and it doesn't get stuck, we send it back to you."
Having fired 40 rounds of factory ammo and 10 rounds of reloads (RL22 or N570 @ < 86grains), I bet the ammo they use will NOT get stuck.

However, there's definitely evidence of a problem. I'll fix it...

Welcome to the sticky world of 338LM Savages.

Welcome to the sticky world of 338LM Savages.

Stuckage is right!

Took photos of my chamber last night, you could see the brass tailings where the case dragged over the high spot. I took my dental pick and pulled the detritus off but could not feel any high spot. However, I don't believe I would feel anything up to almost 10 mils if it's a gradual build. If it were a sharp edge, sure. I'll post those when I remember to pull my camera mem card.
Problem is, to measure any inconsistencies, I would need a really nice bore measurement tool unless I pull the damn thing apart. This set is probably a POS -> Telescoping Bore Gauge Set 6 pcs
Even then I'd probably miss it. Need an ID runout gauge.

im in the middle of a runup with 300 scenars and h1000,lapua brass and fed 210m. gun is a rem 700 pss with a 6-20x50 zeiss conquest in burris xtp rings. i shot the groups at 200 from a bullsbag. these are 2 shot groups to see if anything was worth investigating further. the 5/8" grp is 88.5 and the 2 in one hole is 89.5g

i will run them thru a chrony and see how fast they are going next range trip
