How much should I be paying for M61 AP rounds?

I'd like to stock a couple hundred .308 AP rounds for the up-armored zombiepocalypse. A local wants $750 for 200 rounds. According to gunbroker, anything under about $4/rnd is reasonable, but it still seems pretty excessive to me. Is there a better route at this point in time? Perhaps just buying the projectiles and reloading is a far better way to go? What would be a reasonable amount to pay to reload vs. to buy outright?

I'd also like help IDing it so that I don't get taken advantage of. 2 things I've seen guys on gunbroker do is 1) use a magnet to prove it has a steel core. 2) there are two rows of little hash marks that also seem like an M61 ID to me. Some have been black tipped and some have not been.

Thanks!

This has got me looking into a forster co-ax and just buying the bullets at around $1/rnd. I think I can do it all for less than $750 and end up with a really nice reloading press to boot.

He's down to $500. That's still a lot to pay for the rounds, but I think I'm going to do it for now. At $1+ per bullet plus cases, powder, primers, which I hear are hard to come by, I'm going to overpaying about $1/rnd compared to loading myself. That's for the convenience of having it already done, and getting the AP ammo while I can still get my hands on it.

M993 is the good stuff. Tungsten carbide vs. hardened steel is night. and. day. different. That said, M61 is markedly better than M2 for steel core stuff. I'd be more interested in the projectiles than the ammo, myself. The only .30 cal I have anymore is a 37" barreled 300 PRC which I suppose is something of a modern anti-tank rifle in this realm... LOL. PzB39 round 2.
