+1, but keep the action clean

Re: How often should I clean it?

To roughly quote a former member, "To clean your barrel before accuracy falls off is like wiping your butt before you take a dump."

That said, my 700P gets cleaned around every 300-500 rounds whether it needs it or not- and it usually doesn't.

Whenever it makes you feel good.

I agree with the unnamed former member quoted by Jamie. My Rock barreled 308 just had its first good bath at 920rds......

Re: How often should I clean it?

depends if you like to shoot a clean or dirty bore (accuracy, which ever shoots the best)??? I'd atleast take a barrel snake and a little rem oil to the lugs after each outting. That's how I was trained....consistency is accuracy.

Do your own experiment and see how long you can go before you see a noticeable drop in accuracy. I just shot my AR in 5 F-class competitions (350 rounds) and still don't see a difference. I cleaned it at that point. :)

I totally agree - wait until you see an accuracy decrease before cleaning (what other reason is there to clean?).

As stated above, most custom barrels seem to go a very long time before needing to be cleaned - typically much longer than factory tubes. Not only are their bores machined more carefully than factory units, but they're also far more smooth (they should be completely free of tooling marks past the throat). So not only do they guide bullets better but they collect a lot less fouling, too.
