How often to clean barrel

One thing John Krieger says that doesn’t seem to make sense is saying abrasive elements embedded in a nylon brush being pulled across a crown can damage it. By that logic, every brush stroke may be damaging your lands or grooves. He does clarify “1000’s of times probably not 100’s of times” referring to the potential for damage with nylon. Seems he’s just erring on the side of caution.
I noticed Frank Green recommends against using any brushes.
Either way, I clean when it needs it now and haven’t noticed any difference except a lot more time shooting than cleaning.

I have hear that having carbon in the barrel will trap moist and cause rust in the long run. This is probably true if a dirty barrel is left untouched for a prolonged period. I have not personally seen any rust in any firearms I own though So I wonder how much truth is in this carbon/moist theory.

Ill give it a light cleaning before accuracy starts to drop off. Typically 300-ish rounds or So. A couple passes with a brush followed by a few patches and done

Now fellas, what if you need the re-zero or test a new load with 50 rounds or so, and don’t plan on shooting that rifle again for the unforeseable future. Do you clean it or stash it as-is.
Used to store "as-is" @Singleshot, until I pulled two rifles out of the safe one day that had been in there a fair while and could clearly see corrosion on rifling at muzzle end.
I clean chambers out after every session but not the bore.
Now I clean and oil any that will be "put away for a while".

About 300+-ish is where it's been getting cleaned I'm right at 1200 rounds on current pipe. Actually have not cleaned my Proof yet due to accuracy drop off simply did it for a new set of brass and new resizing die recently. Took it out last week and maybe 30 rounds later it was back to shooting balls out, but definitely doesn't shoot it's best clean. Towards the end of the session accuracy tightened up and was holding right at a smidge over 1moa elevation spread at 1 mile with gusty winds of 10-15.

I clean my guns after every use or hunting trip where they were fired. If they get wet, then I take them apart for a thorough cleaning. So it depends.

I clean thoroughly EVERY time I shoot. No matter If it's 10 rounds or 100 rounds. I always take the barrel back to clean. No carbon no copper.

Rifle shoots hole on hole.

Stainless custom barrels to be clear.

Whatever works for you go for it. Take 10 top world class shooters from any discipline and each of them will have a different cleaning technique. Hell, take 10 barrel manufacturers and they all have different cleaning recommendations

Rust was never a factor in Idaho or South Dakota.

Here in Florida, 12 miles inland from the bay, it's a constant struggle.
