How to get case web or base back into tolerances?

I'm not sure as to how but my last reloads have case dimensions at the base or web of the case that exceed specs and resizing them doesn't bring them totally back into spec. 6.5 CM is supposed to be .4703 max but even after a full length resize, it could still be .471 in some cases. I already have a cam over on my press so (I think) turning down my die any further will only bump the shoulder down further.

Aside from a small base die, are there any other solutions to keeping this brass?

Are you having troubles with it sticking in the chamber? If not, what is your concern about getting it back to "spec." Is it because you are using a case gauge, and oversizing all your brass? If so look up case head separation now, rather making a thread to ask us what is happening to your brass in a couple months or years, depending on how long it takes you to get 3-5 reloading.

If its sticking you are going to have to find a die that sizes the base enough to fit. Sometimes a die and chamber don't match well. I.E the die is too big at the base for the chamber. Some chambers need a small base die. If this brass was fired in a different rifle, it may need a small base sizing once, then not again.

I should have mentioned that I have a new barrel whose chamber is tighter (or the old one was too large) and this is the reason for my question. I think your second paragraph is helpful. Are there any small base dies that are standard or are they all special order? I have a redding die and they tell me that all small base dies are special order...

Ring dies are pretty much a custom thing... Even finding a place that makes them is tough. From what I gathered of the PVA version, it looks like more of a 'push-thru' style, which is a little odd but would definitely size *all* the way down (y)

PVA was making them not sure if they still are or not

what dies are you using now?

The PVA was supposed to size them down to .465 but mine was taking it all the way down to .460 or so which when going from .470 was waaaaay too much and impossible to actually make work. Never got word back on a properly sized base. I think reubenski had the same experience as well but he was told that they dont plan to correct it and no longer offer it.

That's a bummer... I wasn't aware of that particular issue, though when I spoke with them it sounded like it was on the back burner due to other projects.

The ring die that I have was machined (ground?) to a specific ID, .468, and then hardened and polished. There is *zero* radius or chamfer at the bottom of the die, so it will go all the way down to the shell holder. About $150 for a one-trick pony - but it's one of those dies that when ya need it, there really isn't any substitute. Small base dies do a pretty good job, but they still have a slight radius at the bottom to facilitate smoother case entry.

Once upon a time, someone told me that roll-sizing cases would accomplish something similar... but those setups are pretty dang spendy for the most part.

Basically... if a SB die will get it done, fine. If not... you may need to get a custom die made, or just get new brass dedicated to the new barrel.
