I just received my Vortex Viper 6-24 FFP scope tonight.
It's going on Seekins rings.

I have a wheeler scope mounting kit which includes 2 levels.

I set the gun on the wood floor with the bipod open and leveled the top of the pic rail on my gas block.

Then I leveled the top of the elevation turret.

I could not find a good place on the upper receiver to attach a level to. I am assuming the 1" long level on the pic rail up front is not going to do a whole lot of good.

Any suggestions on how to level this thing out?

Best thing we ever bought for leveling scopes. Only trouble is that is a big gap on an AR. Might want to get two sets

Sorry. New guy here. What do you do with feeler gauges? How are they used?

Re: How to make sure LR-308 is level when mounting?

You don't use the levels. You use a stack (or multiple stacks) of feeler gauges as a square block between the bottom of the scope and the top of the receiver. As you tighten the scope, the gauges prevent prevent the scope from rotating in the rings. As the tension increases in the stack, you can keep removing a few thin gauges until the scope is fully tightened.

Or you could tape one gauge to the rail and the magnet will stick to it. HA!

Re: How to make sure LR-308 is level when mounting?

Easier than feeler gauges.
Take your allen wrench set and chooose the one that fits between the rail and the flat of the scope turret.
Insert the wrench under the turret and rotate it until it contacts the bottom of the turret. Now rotate the scope slightly until it find a home, or paralell to the scope rail. Tighten and you are golden.
Try it, you will like it.

Great ideas. I've been staring at a bubble trying to do this. Stupid.

Thanks guys. I will try some of the ideas.

This is all with the assumption that the pic rail itself is level right? I guess I have to start somewhere.
