I have a 308 with 1 in 10 twist and presently shoot a 175 gr
with pretty decent accuracy...I would like to try a lighter bullet and try to get the same results...Have read about the 125 gr being accurate..But I fail to beleive it as I have not gotten any real accuracy from it..I would appreciate any replies..

^^ This is good advice! ^^

I have had great results from the 155gr Lapua Scenars, but I have a buddy who has had equally great results with the Berger 155gr Match Hybrids. While I know that people are running the 125gr-135gr pills from 1:10 twist barrels, I don't know that you will really achieve great results from a shorter/lighter bullet with a faster twist. YMMV!

I have to use a 168 or 175 boattail in my savage (1-10") to get good results. The advice to try a "light" berger or scenar might be your best bet.

At what distance do you want to shoot at and what do you want to do with it, hunt, varmint, paper??
There are plenty of light and accurate bulletes, but the lighter ones will normally have a poor BC,(not including the 155 bullets that were mentioned above). If you want to push out past 800 or so yards the higher BC bullets are where you want to be looking at.

I've had very good luck with Sierra 150 Match bullets in a couple 1-11 twist. I seat them with my 168 seater. Your chamber specs will have a lot to do with it. If it's a factory chamber then all bets are off.

Your question is HOW to pick a light weight bullet for a 1-10 twist.

The best way to do that is to shoot as many different bullets as you can through your rig and find out what she likes best.

The 155'S would be a good place to start. like already mentioned the berger and the scenar are very good. I would also shoot some smk's and some A-maxs.

The SMK comes in a lot of different bullet weights that are lighter than the 175's you are shooting now. 125, 135, 150, 155, 168. The A-MAX comes in a 155 and a 168. they also have a 178 and a 208, but I know you wanter to go lighter than 175. Put some of these bullets down range and let your rifle tell you what it shoots the most accurate. jmo.

The 125s will work quite well. People are using them in CMP-GSM matches (including the Vintage Sniper Matches) with excellent results with 1:10 barrels.

Light "accurage" bullets in 1:10 barrels is nothing new. They've proved accurate for a long time as evidenced by this chart from Cpt Edward Crossman's "Book of the Springfield" It shows the different groups fired at 200 yards with different weight bullets.
