Hey guys - I have 2 AR-15's I built that I no longer need. I used serialized receivers (one from aero, one from midwest) and high quality parts and built them correctly. I've easily built 10+ for myself and have all the proper tools and torque everything as spec'd. I don't use junk parts and I know what I'm doing.

How do you price out these builds? Do you add the price of the parts and subtract say 20%?

Would it be easier to just piece all the parts out?

Piecing them out would be a big loss.

Entry level stuff flooding market and diluting prices on quality used guns.
Bad time to sell, maybe trade would end up better for you?

Trading is always good, but I have almost everything I could ever want, less some WW2 rifles/pistols.

I do have to put a cash number though. Just curious on what is the norm.

On a used AR, the value I place on the barrel and bolt is near zero because you don't know how long they will last. Everything else is probably 50% of retail price.

If the gun is nearly new or has a documented round count, you might find a buyer that agrees with a higher value.

I try to buy new parts with a 30% or greater discount so 50% for used isn't that bad.

You are kind of asking a buyer to take a chance on a significant unknown.
VS, buying a factory one that comes with warranty

Don't expect to get nearly as much as you think they are worth.

Personally I'd suggest you just keep them, now is the time to stock up on as many ARs and AR parts as possible rather than getting rid of them.

Build them well and don’t sell them. If you build them in a mediocre state they won’t sell in today’s market, and if you build it well you’ll lose your ass in the sale. If resale value is of importance the best bet is a factory rifle.
