A friend has his FFL and just wants to know how to get set up to sell suppressors and SBRs here in Missouri. I tried looking around on google but not having much luck on what he needs to apply for. Thanks guys!

Re: How To Sell Suppressors In Missouri

From my understanding he will have to get a class 3 SOT. Why doesn't he contact the ATF? I would think they would tell him what paperwork he needs to file.

LOL Why? When you can ask your buddy to get on the internet and get the low down, its got to be right....

Wiggy.... my inquisitive friend, you need to quit trying to talk your buddy into doing something he doesn't want to do. If he wanted to do it he would already know or be asking the ATF himself.

Re: How To Sell Suppressors In Missouri

Getting his FFL was the hard part. First he needs to apply for a Federal Employee Identification Number, even if he has no employees, you can apply for it over the phone. This will be his SOT number. Then he fills out this form and pays $500 or $1000 per location depending upon how much the gross income of his business is, This runs from July 1 to June 30 so now is the time to do it if he wants to get a full year of use out of it. Once the BATFE cashes his check for the SOT he is good to go, but it might take a while till he gets his actual copy of SOT in the mail.

Re: How To Sell Suppressors In Missouri

Your friend may want to think about whether or not he wants to deal with the NFA stuff. There is more paperwork and regulations associated with it. Also if he wants to be competitive, he will need to lay out a decent amount of money to have a good inventory. People don't want to wait for a dealer to transfer a can in and wait 4-8 weeks before they can even start the 6+ month wait for their form 4s.

Another consideration is storage. Your friend will need to have room to store all of the items he sells for 6 months or so until the paperwork clears.

I have safes stacked full of sold suppressors.

All that being said, to be able to handle NFA items, he will need to pay the SOT fee. The fee is either $500 or $1000 annually.

If you have any specific questions, let me know. I have an 07FFL/02SOT in Missouri.

I have a question, where is the picture of your safes full of suppressors, we need some suppressor porn if your going to make statements like that. I know several manufacturers and other dealers that don't have even 1 safe full of suppressors.

As that classic forum saying goes, pictures or it didn't happen!!!

Yea, not going to post pictures of that on the internet. Right now I have 52 suppressors waiting for approved paperwork. And I'm a small time business compared to a lot of them. Average of 4"x4"x10" per box, and it fills a safe up pretty quick.

I'm actually thinking about getting some heavy duty Job Boxs to store the cans in, to make more room for firearms in the safes. The cans themselves don't take up much room, but they come in some big ass boxes.

That's where the below ground level gun store with a walk in vault comes in handy. I should have called my gun store 6 feet under armory.
