I want to here what your SWFA super Sniper 10x42 has been through, how many rounds, etc. and to know if it still works like it was new.

Im at about 500 rounds through mine with a few drops and roughness with no problems yet. Couldnt have spent a better $300.00

Nice! I forgot to add that mines mounted on a .308

have one from circa 2005 and it has been through 3 rifles and two owner. took a 4ft fall onto the ocular housing bearing all the shock from a 15lb rifle. bent the ocular tube down and chipped some glass inside the ocular lens. straigntened the housing in a press and repaired the parallax adj. tracks and functions as it always has. no issues.

Did you happen to know if it lost its zero after the fall? Would definitely be great if it didnt.

Re: How tough is your Super Sniper 10x42?

I've had one in the past, never used it in a match but it did hold up to a good amount of .308 rounds. I've never put it through what my NF or USO go through but I have a feeling it would of held up.

Never thoroughly box tested it.

Re: How tough is your Super Sniper 10x42?

About 50 rounds through a 50 cal. Still works. Not sure how much longer I will though.

Nice scope at a nice price.

Re: How tough is your Super Sniper 10x42?

Got one on an ar50. Has ridden just over 300 rounds. Another on a 308 that has been dropped dragged and bumped on rocks trees etc.

Both still ticking; no issues. Consistent accurate adjustments. No zero loss from anything yet.

Re: How tough is your Super Sniper 10x42?

My 16x has 50 rounds of 50 BMG and about 2000 rounds of .22. I consider the latter more impressive, since that rifle goes to the range every time I do and it actually gets knocked around quite a bit and gets lots of elevation dialed on it.

Re: How tough is your Super Sniper 10x42?

This was from a few years ago. my son is now 13.

I’ll draw out the way it all took place. On Saturday it was snowing and right around 32 degrees. It was me my son, and a cousin that’s my son’s age (9) .We was in Alabama hunting whitetail deer. We went out for the evening hunt around 3 pm. I didn’t want the young one’s to get too cold. Well anyways around 5 Pm they looked at me and said I’m freezing I can’t feel my feet. About that time I figured out I couldn’t feel mine ether so back to hiking to the truck. When we got to the truck I leaned my gun up against the front tire so I could gat all the wet cloths of the kid’s. So I got the top layer of cloths off them and got mine off and got all the call and rattling stuff I normally tote back in to the right place. I also started the truck for the warm up. I chatted with the kids (boys) about being girl scouts and being COLD and coming out of the woods way to early. I finally got all the stuff put away and hoped in and drive about 100 yards and thought to myself OH SH*% I forgot to get my gun off the tire. I was a little ticked at this time. I spun the truck around in the mud and snow and headed back to get it.SH85 I ran over my gun when it fell it hit the ground at a 45degree angle of my truck. I ran over the receiver and the entire scope. The 37inch tall tire marks were dead center of the gun and scope. I was crushed. I couldn’t stop telling my self how stupid I was. I wiped all the mud and snow off the gun and put it in it’s case this time. Sunday all I could do was think about how stupid I was for monster trucking my gun and wanted to shot it to see if everything was okay with it but I told my wife I would hang out with her all day Sunday. So that meant shooting was way out of the question but Monday I would be at the gun shop all day so I could then. Saturday night I have night mares of how bad thing was going to be at the gun shop and I didn’t sleep at all. Day light finally showed up Monday Morning I get up fix coffee and jump in the shower. Well The coffee filter flops over and runs all the water in the floor. This isn’t looking good. Is it a bad omen? I get the mess took care of and got to the shop about 30 minutes late. When I get there some guys wanted me to take them to the tactical shop up the street so off we go. The whole time we are gone I haven’t said a word about what I did. I even had a good friend call and I didn’t tell him. Sorry bro. finally got back to the shop around 2PM and I have 2 pro cleanings to get done and out before I can test fire my rifle. Well my polishing wheel broke I dropped to springs and a few other thing happen that made me think I was in for the worst. I got the bench setup and out privet range and off to put up a target. Well wouldn’t you know the gun slid off the table on the ground.. I’m sh*#ing golden ester eggs about right now.WHAT ELSE can go wrong got everything setup and settled in for some shooting. The first shoot (KABOOM) HIT DEAD PERFECT. The second shot I thought I missed the paper. I walked down and the hole was ablonged so 2 shots one hole. Not bad. I shoot 10 times with one raged hole. I did a box test and it tracked perfectly. I’m now grinning from ear to ear. This SS10x42 is indestructible. I am truly amazed at how well a super sniper will hold up. I knew it was tuff but come on this is crazy tuff. I would recommend this scope to anyone any time. if it can stay working perfect for me I know it will for anyone who has one or get’s one. I finally did fess up to all the guys in the gun shop. They gave me heck for the rest of the day. They even made me a sign that says BD parking. But they put it about a ¼ of a mile from the shop for some reason.

Thanks for reading this. I know it was long but Oh well i will keep it shorter next time

Were you using an SWFA shade or another brand? Curious how compatible their threads are.

Re: How tough is your Super Sniper 10x42?

Have one of the early SS10X42 models that has accounted for an awful lot of prairie dogs and a few thousand rounds of .223 Rem on the first gun. Later it got stuck on a .308 Win for another 1500-2000 rds, and I used it to win the 2005 Findlay Cup match. Around then I got a SS16X42 that has been my default scope for clamping on my sling-n-irons guns for load testing or the occasional Any/Any match. It survived being in the trunk of a car that was totaled in a collision on the way home from a match in 2006. Scope was mounted on a 6.5-08 match rifle in a soft case; collision was to the front end of the car but still... it wasn't much fun anywhere in that vehicle, trust me. Later took the gun to the range and had to re-zero it, but still works fine to this day. Its the one I use as a 'control' when testing a new high dollar scope - if the gun starts shooting weird, inconsistent, or just unusually larger than normal groups, and nothing else is found (i.e. nothing loose on the gun, ammo prep checks out, etc.) I pull the fancy scope and stick the SS16x42 on there to see if its the scope. More than once it has been...

The SS10x42... is currently on my step-son's rifle. Being he's a Marine, its about the only thing of mine I was reasonably certain he couldn't (easily) break...

Re: How tough is your Super Sniper 10x42?

Mine survived 18 months in Iraq mounted on a M21. I'm guessing I put over 3k rounds down range with it. It wasn't babied by any means and always held my zero. I have a SS 16x42 on my DPMS 308lr and I'm very satisfied with it. If you get the chance to buy a new one, definitely get the HD models.

Factory provided sunshade.

are you saying that the sunshade that is already attached when you receive the scope, or you attached another sunshade to that one and stripped the threads? I read that you couldn't remove the one thats put on in the factory. I never tried to take mine off though.

Re: How tough is your Super Sniper 10x42?

I had mine on a hunting rifle, I got cuaght up on the bolt knob and pull the rifle off the bench, it impacted concrete directly on the elevation turret and ripped the assembly right out of the tube. I expected something to be bent, not destroyed. SWFA put me off to Bushnell, it's been sitting in a bag in the shop for a few years now.

why don't you get it replaced?

It's the second one that broke on me, first one I just tossed out after struggling with Bushnells CS. They are a tough optic, but tough is subjective.

Re: How tough is your Super Sniper 10x42?

I'm hearing more than once about the bad feedback on Bushnell's CS for the repairs. I wish SWFA would try to come up with another alternative. Though, that isn't enough to shy me away from their products by any means.

Re: How tough is your Super Sniper 10x42?

I have had a SS 3-9X42 since 2009 and it has held up well even being beat by these rough ass west Texas roads. A buddy used a SS 10x42 in a week long sniper school around Dallas and it held it's own well and took a beating.

Re: How tough is your Super Sniper 10x42?

The Super Sniper is so tough that Even Chuck Norris cant brake it if he tried! And heck, he can even slam a revolving door!!!
