I'm having a heck of a time looking for the Howa scope base, preferably a 20 MOA base. Any ideas.

EGW makes these for legacy, kinda pricey....considering what EGW used to sell them for. Kind of a cheesedick move on Legacy's part too.

I know if you go two piece remington bases work. I am not sure about one piece tho. You can look up leupold base and cross reference the remmy and how model numbers. If they are the same bingo! I allowed remember they were but not sure.

Yes the one piece Remington bases work fine on the howa rifles.

msdeer, i dont think the remington bases will work on the short action howas. the two piece will but not the one piece. and i am not sure about the long action howas. which howas do you have?

Ok I was wrong. I am using badger Rem 700 long action Bases on the Long Action Rifle and Ken Farrel Base on the SA.
They make them for the Howa Short action

Short action Remington one piece and Howa one piece will NOT interchange.. The spacing on the mounting holes is longer on the Howa..
The EGW piece is a nice fit... Or just use 2pc Rem bases

The problem with using two piece bases with can't built into them is they are designed for a specific spacing. If its not the correct spacing ie the remmy short on Howa short. You will create incorrect geometry. Putting the scope in a pinch. Some remmy long bases work with the howa short some will block bolt lift. You will only get one rear screw to match either way. The best idea for the howa short is just get one that is made for it unless you go 0 cant and use buris ring inserts for your 20 moa.

Today we just received our first run of 1500 Short action 0 and 20 moa bases back from Hard Coat. This mount will be available only in our HD line. This mount will fit the Howa SA as well as the older 1500 Mossberg, S&W 1500, and the Vanguard. Available in Short action and Long action.
The posters are correct to reiterate. Remington SA and Howa SA are a different bolt pattern. Don't let that fact stop posters on lesser forums on the misinformationnet from saying they are the same

you can get 0, 5 and 20 moa at the egw website directly. Fit is decent but mounts their rings perfect. I believe I paid about 15 bucks a piece for mine. Just make sure to search the website for it i dont believe they had a direct link to it.

I'm almost positive this is what I have on my wife's Howa 1500 .308 SA. I'll have to check it again. It's either a Leupold or Redfield base.

egw makes 1 piece rails with 0 cant or 20 MOA for howa long and short actions check midway or swfa the last time i checked they ran between $40 to $75
