Anyone have any experience with the Howa Axioms? I messed around with one chambered in .204 yesterday in the gun shop. Looks like a solid gun... action in smoother than most of my remingtons. Barrel is obviously free floated. Bolt looks well machined. I looked at the package that comes with the Nikko-Sterling 4-16X44 glass, 24" heavy barrel. Anyone have any experience?

Re: Howa Axiom

If you like the Howa you may want to look at a Weatherby Vanguard and install it on a Axiom stock. The Vanguard is a Howa with a little changes and a name you know and stand behind.
Its not that there is anything wrong with the Howa but if you go to sell it you slap on the Weatherby stock and a buyer will what it is.
I am thinking of the Howa or Vanguard with the Axiom in 204, unless you want the camo combo I think the Vanguard is the way to go.

Re: Howa Axiom

A guy brought one into a shop the other day to sell. I think the shop only gave him like $450 for it. I looked at it. Main thing I noticed was that it was a heavy sucker. Ive never shot one and Ive only seen one in person so I cant comment on them. However I do agree with the comment above about just buying the weatherby and putting it in a Axiom stock. I have a couple of vangaurds and they are gonna be a lil easier to sell than a Howa.
