We have decided to sell the savage and go with a Howa.

Outside the weight, is there a significant difference between the HCR vs the ACR I should be aware of?

I’ve seen good reviews for both, but am having a harder time finding the HCR for sale.

Be careful on gunbroker I had a couple of friends get burned.
I ordered a CZ scorpion carbine and it went well, but I ordered from a top 25 seller with a brick and mortar location.

I’ve know several people that got shafted by newer or lower end sellers.

Just wish I could find that rifle, every place I seen advertising they gave them shows the picture of the ACR.

This is the one I’m searching for, has it been discontinued?

The Howa HCR is a great rifle. Great review by Frank here on the Hide.

I believe the 92502 model was replaced by the APC (Australian Precision Chassis). Tried the APC but having to use proprietary mags steered me to the HCR (AICS mags).

Now running one HCR in .223 REM - 24" barrel as my trainer and another HCR set up identically with a 24" barrel in 6.5 CM as my match rifle.

I had to search around to find both rifles but worth the effort.

YMMV. Cheers

Try this...

Unfortunately they have been out of stock and when/if they become available again they will be in store pickup only.

Thsnks for finding the rifle, even though the store won’t let me buy it

When you say HCR chassis by itself, what exactly do you mean?

Do you mean no buttstock, no pistol grip, and no forend?
For example one of these

Gotcha, so the forend and grip are included. I suppose it's not too bad a price. The chassis itself is well made and really nice. I've always liked mine and never had a problem. Because it doesn't come with a buttstock, I guess going that route would allow you the freedom of custom picking whichever you want.

You need to figure out for yourself if this chassis is going to offer you more than whatever configuration you have to make it worth it.
