Do the mini actions fit chassis' that are for the howa 1500, or do they need to be mini action specific?

And if they do need to be specific, what are my options other than MDT? Never been a fan of the MDT chassis lineup.

I hope it will fit a KRG bravo thats inletted for the 1500

    Thanks for your help, fellas.

I wish they did this comparison with the actual action as well

Anybody know of any chassis manufacturers other than MDT that is making them for the mini actions?

Traditional stock options are limited to what comes from Howa or Boyd's Gun Stocks (you can get a pro-varmint for it).

Brownells has a chassis for the mini. It is made for them by MDT. Looks a lot like the Gen 2 XL. If I were buying a mini I would get the one from Brownells.

Legacy Sports also has a chassis for the mini which is just like the full size one for the HCR line of rifles.

The only downside to all of the metal chassis made for the mini is the mag release lever is in front of the mag well.

The only way to avoid that would be to buy the Boyd's stock and install CDI bottom metal.

A while ago I saw some nice aluminum chassis options from "Wombat Ordnance" but I don't know if they're available in the US. An email might confirm whether or not they are willing to ship to the US or not. The USD-AUD exchange rate might offset shipping.

Brownells' has these barreled actions on sale. I've always thought these would sure be fun and that they'd make a great deer rifle. Unfortunately my kids are soaking up all my mad money (boy it sure sux being an adult sometime) so I thought I'd pass a heads up to someone that needs a new toy

I just put one together in the new Thumbhole At one from Boyds. Sort of a Laminate chassis feel? Any way it is a great little rifle...shoots way better than I anticipated and am having a good time developing a few hunting rounds. It gets to Hog hunt this weekend so looking forward to christening it. 6.5 Grendel with the HB #6 contour and threaded. 20" Topped it with my Nikon FX1000 for now. Looking at something smaller like the Zeiss or maybe the Midas TAC...no rush since the Black will do for now.

The heavy barrel sits in a Brownells chassis and is easily a half minute with Hornady Black 123 eld ammo for 3 shots and damn close with 5. Howa’s Heavy contour is akin to a Bartlein 3.

22” sporter remains unfired and the 20” sporter in unbedded McMillan is a solid 1moa gun for 3 shots with Hornady Black. For my intended use for these guns and factory ammo at $17 on sale I doubt I ever work up a load.

@D2junky thank you for the input. I have been wanting to buy one of these for years, but for some reason I just haven’t committed.

Now that LSI has introduced the mini in 300 blackout it makes for a harder choice.

I’m not buying both so the question that I have is which is more fun: 300 blackout or 6.5 Grendel.

I’m sure the answer changes with each person’s opinion.

Yeah I have one of the 16” 300blk remingtons and it’s fun shooting subs but that’s about it. Grendel would definitely be my pick and more versatile. The Hornady Black ammo is cheap and stupid accurate in every gun I’ve run it in.

Sometimes it’s nice to toss them in the truck and just go shoot and not have to bother with loading ammo.
