I was pointed to this site by friends on predatormasterforums and texasbowhunter.com. I just began the process of getting my first suppressor and now am in the system and the fun wait begins I am looking for a rifle that can shoot decent long range after spending the day with a friend shooting 600-977 meters. He had a tikka t3 tactical with bushnell hdmr and a suppressor and I was hitting steel way out there. I was hooked and immediately began search for what I need to hunt and shoot those long distances. Soooo, if anyone has a tikka t3 setup or remington 700 with a threaded 20" barrel I am looking to head that direction. Thanks for a cool place to come and learn as I am about as new to this as anyone can get….

I'm far from as experienced as some of the people here, but if I may offer some advice...
What cartridge will you use? I shoot a Savage Hog Hunter model 11 in .308 - it came with a 20 inch threaded barrel, and I wish it had a 24 inch barrel every time I shoot it. In most cases, a longer barrel will give you higher velocities, and that's especially useful in long range target work.
