Huber trigger.

I just recently sent off a Stiller Tac30, Bartlein blank, and a Huber trigger to my gunsmith to be chambered in .260. So I get a email from him this morning saying he doesn't feel that comfortable with the Huber trigger. I called 'em up and he told me they are prone to slam fires (or something like that). He wasn't aware if the newer ones had been fixed. Anyone know about these issues or am I good to go. I ordered it from Midway a few weeks ago. Thanks in advance.

I have a Huber on a Remington clone action. I haven't had any problems with it. I guess it wouldn't hurt to do initial live ammo testing at the range. It it a great trigger as far as the feel of it goes.

Huber triggers are one of the BEST......as far as safety.. never heard a word against it.... John Huber is a competitive shooter good guy from the north up here in snow country......
Call him...... he will explain....and correct whatever your gunsmith does`nt understand about how it works,...

The main objection people seemed to have when I asked for opinions was that the Huber 2 stage is actually a set trigger. So after pulling in the first stage, if you let off the trigger, the sear doesn't reset, but stays waiting for further pressure. What others have told me is if at this point you were to butt slam the rifle for example you could cause it to discharge even though your not physically touching the trigger.

The other 2 stage trigger that was put forward in comparison was the CG Jackson tactical two stage trigger which is supposed to be a true two stage trigger - ie, when you let off the trigger after the first stage, the sear resets and you start all over again from the get go on the trigger pull. This is supposed to be safer.

I am still waiting for my build, which includes the Huber, but have been thinking about swapping for the CG Jackson.

I have 3 rifles with Huber single stages in them and have not had an issue.

You need to ensure that the stock is inletted for the trigger so that the safety does not contact the stock though.

I had to hog out a lil more material on my A5s. YMMV

I have one, no issues. Keep your weapon on safe until you intend to fire and don't worry about it.

IIRC correctly, the rumor is that due to the weight of the trigger shoe itself, the inertia from slamming the butt can cause the trigger to release. Never had this problem with mine, but replaced it with an xtreme tactical as it is both user adjustable, and I prefer the feel of it over the huber.

In addition, the safety on the xtreme is a big step up from the remington-esque safeties as it actually disengages the sear.

I shot a huber two stage in competitions no issues one of the best triggers I have ever used. Put the trigger in your self and start shooting.

+1. Several matches and many thousands of rounds down range with 3 different rifles with Huber triggers. Never a hint of a problem.

all current triggers should be new design which addresses issue, still some bad press out there thou

As far as feel goes, driving a Huber trigger allows way more feel then the typical touch n bang triggers

Lol, I'm feeling better again.......

I'm going to run it for sure and see how it goes. Then if their are any issues that arise, I will address them accordingly or just swap it out for something else. Thanks for all the input hide members. I'm hoping this rifle will be a shooter. I'm having the chamber reamed out specifically for Lapua brass and bullets. Also a custom die made to math the chamber as well.

I ordered a Tactical 2 stage trigger directly from Huber Concepts in October 2012(so I'm sure its his newest generation) to put in my build. Some of these post had me concerned. However I tried out some of these scenarios listed and mine does none of the above. I would consider it safe as any other trigger system. I would not shy away from using this trigger. If you had any concern I would suggest giving John Huber a call #920-921-9641. I think after speaking with him it would clear any concern one would have about using one of these triggers.

Just curious but what second stage weight are people running?

I love the second stage on my TRG, set it to 2.3 lb. But I know Johns triggers break differently than the TRG. Was thinking 1lb but might be too light?
