Huber vs CG Extreme

I have a 700 that I am looking to put a two stage trigger in. I have plenty of time behind the CG trigger and virtually none behind the Huber. The CG I had was a good trigger but if you weren't paying attention you could blow right past the 1st stage. The only Huber I have shot was one of their "set" triggers where if you took up the first stage you had to recock the bolt to get that 1st stage back.

I would really like if one of these could be setup to very closely resemble an AI two stage but I know that's not likely to happen.

Of the two triggers which is better and more closely resembling the AI trigger?

I have no experience with the cg, but I have a huber and absolutely love it. Mine isn't one of there "set" triggers. But from my point of view, I'll be sticking to huber from now on with any more trigger upgrades. Take this FWIW

To me, the Huber is more like the AI trigger. Much more noticeable first and second stage.

Like you said the CG has much less pronounced stages.

I got a Huber 2 stage in a Surgeon if you want to meet and try it.

If your cg does not have two very noticeable stages, it is not properly adjusted. No contest, a properly adjusted cg tactical model is the way to go.

I ran the group buy in them long ago and had Tom set mine up. Never adjusted it at all. It was a good trigger just not very close to my AI

No kidding. I ran my two side by side with my last aw before i sold it and had them all feeling as close to identical as posssible. Even the trigger pull gauge thought so! Are you running the heavy or light spring? If light, then swap in the heavy and give her a whirl.

I would say this as well. My solid shoe CG has very distinct first and second stages. It took a lot of careful adjustment to get right, but now I wouldn't trade it for anything.

My CG has a very pronounced 1st stage, no problems whatsoever with it, got mine at 11oz.

Huber single stage. I have 3 of them and they have been bomber so far. John is also one of the coolest guys to deal with and has awesome customer service.

One thing I dont like about the CG is, it's more of a life up then back on the first stage....I do like it, but it's no Anschutz.....BUT IT wasn't designed to be. Another plus about the CG is great CS....Very nice trigger and very distinct first and second stage if set correctly.

i have 3 of the CG. imho, it's the best trigger you can get for a 700.

deadly, Tom has two different sets of springs. they are equally crisp, but one makes it quite a bit more weight and you are not likely to blow past the 1st stage. The light set is pretty dang light and while I've never AD'd with it on a live round, I have had several times when dry firing practicing on barricades that i've meant to take up the 1st stage and sent the firing pin forward.

I have a huber. Easy install and I made no adjustments to it. Every one that has shot my rifle has fell in love with the trigger.

i have 2 two stage Hubers and they rock! Once my buds played with mine, they have been switching to them. I have no experience with the CG's, so I can't give a true comparison. My gunshith sold me on them without trying one and glad he did.

It feels nice, BUT the first stage did not reset properly when I released it. This is a big no-go in my book. Any real two-stage trigger will completely reset when you release it and that is very important for a safe trigger. Perhaps my Huber experience was an anomoly, but that is one too many for me.

I heard the same thing about the Huber's, cant be a good thing.

Have 2 Hubers and a CG. there is really no comparison due to the fact that the CG is FULLY adjustable. From 1st and 2nd stage pull weights, 1st stage pull distance, or can adjust so there no 1st stage at all similar to a standard trigger. Instructions very straight forward, but if you don't follow exactly, it screws everything up.

The Hubers I have work flawlessly. BUT, once the first stage is pulled, it is lighter thereafter. Only opening the bolt or switching the safety back on will reset the 1st stage. Kind of annoying but no biggy to me.

Used Huber for several years before switching to CG. Both are good. CG is better.
