We've been working on a project here with a company for a new line of Sporting rifles. First proto was a 7mm-08 AI and 280 AI. Have some more in the works as well.

Contracted a guide service up in MT to put it to good use and they have!

In the last week:

White tail buck on a dead run at 240 yards
Bighorn Sheep at 670 yards
and. . .

. . .this bugger yesterday. Remember! Meat is Murder.

Tasty tasty murder

More pics to come as they filter in. My POC is up in Alaska right now.

Pretty cool stuff for us.

Looks like a Borden Alpine/Timberline.

Regardless..., that's a rifle.

Re: Huntin n killin things that need killin

Looks good. My only thought is that unless it is a 3 position safety and you can lock the bolt, I don't prefer the bolts on hunting rigs to be that long as I snag them on everything. I like the size, it just looks long.

I like big bolts and knobs on my varmint/bench guns.

Just a thought, take it for what it's worth as I am sure you can customize them per order. Thanks for all the posts you put up.

Re: Huntin n killin things that need killin

Those are some nice sticks I had a 280 AI built for hunting and liked it so much I had another one built for LR shootin. The 7-08 also sounds like a neat proposition though.

Re: Huntin n killin things that need killin

This particular rifle does not have the three position safety, it will be an option if someone would like it. We have stacked several critters up with this little rifle, had it on a horse/ backpack hut at over 10000 ft in absolut Miserable conditions and shot a goat at 670 yards. One whitetail at 460, and two good six point bulls right under 500. All with 120 ttsx and none have shook it yet. Will see what next week will bring.

Very nice; thanks for posting these pictures! I'm also curious about a couple things. Is the trigger guard a PTG part? Also, what coating makes the trigger black? Did you guys paint it? Thanks.

Re: Huntin n killin things that need killin

We'll see. SCI in February will tell us the verdict.

We'll have the mountain rig, medium hunter, sportsman, and a boomer to look over.

Still testing. Still fiddlin.

So far its racked up around 8 kills in 3 weeks of field use.

Shawn,

How has the NF 2.5-10x32mm worked? looking for real world experience; especially with what some say is "too small obj lens size" in early or late light.

Re: Huntin n killin things that need killin

6.5
I have been very impressed with this scope, up till tonight I had yet to lay it side by side with something comparable, I pulled out a Leupold Mark 4 3.5-10x42 and set them side by side at what I would call last minute light and I did not have to look twice to confirm what I had already thought, both where set on 10x for compairison The Nightforce was noticably better. I have been very pleased with this scope, I have always been a turret man and this scope has the velocity reticle in it and I am pretty well sold on it. For a hunting rifle that is for shots out to 600 this has been a very dependable set up. I am going to get the velocity 1000 in a 5.5-22 and test it out to a 1000 and see if it is as
good as the 600. Once I played with this setup and confirmed all my ranges
and reticle marks which I did the old fashioned way of actually shooting it at every range to verify everything (which these days many people seem to run the numbers on the program print out a chart and all is supposed to be good) I have not had to look back yet. Have had at least 10 different people shoot this rig at varying distances out to 700 and it has not failed me yet. I would not be afraid to put this scope on any hunting rifle, does it compare to the very large objective scopes, no, but that is not what it is and for all practicle purposes very few could tell the difference unless you had them side by side.
