No, actually all of mine were taken with a .30 cal of some sort, the elk was with the 30/06, the mule deer by the service truck was a lever action 30/30 marlin, the little two point buck was the only one that was actually taken with the Barrett...I don't leave home with out the Barrett though, every time I have (even when I was just hunting with someone else who had a tag!) We could have used it, a buddy of mine had a cow elk tag the year I shot that buck with the 30/30 and when we were heading into my area to hunt deer he got on some cows, they ran across an open field and posted up right at the timberline about 800 yards out and were watching us, there was no way to put a stock on them, but if we would have had the Barrett, I could have given him my dope for 800 and said fire away, they were well out of his range, he was already pushing the knockdown power of his 308, after that experience it just automatically goes in the truck, I don't ever want to come home knowing that we "could have" got one, but just couldn't get close enough to get a shot, just got to have the right tool for the job!

"Great pictures guys. Im already pumped for october! Its going to be a looonnng summer."

Damn nice bull and buck!!! I put in for a mule deer tag in the Book Cliffs area up there in Utah this year, I hunted the central unit last year up on Mt. Nebo out of Payson last year...It was a cluster&%^# to say the least! It rained the whole time and the place was crawling with people. I have heard that Book Cliffs area is hard to draw but good hunting, I am going to Wyoming with a Bull and a Cow tag. I am hunting in Montana with a deer/elk combination liscence and I also have put in for a Muled deer tag in Nevada. First of October I am going to disappear for awhile!

You will like the bookcliffs area. My girlfriends family has had great sucess out there. I actually drew a limited entry tag at the sportsmans expo this year! I will be hunting deer out on the Vernon unit. Cant wait.
Good luck to you this year. See you at the matches in Vegas.

Congrats on the Vernon tag! I did some looking close to that Vernon unit...if its the same area that I am thinking about over there close to Eureka, I actually put up a trail camera over there near Eureka, I think that Vernon unit borders the Central "general season hunt" Looked like there was quite a bit of action over there, I focused on the Nebo area as I saw more deer when scouting, but they were all small bucks and I didn't even run into a small one durring hunting season.

Good luck to you as well, and I will see you at the match! I gotta go in to get operated on three days after the match...gonna get my rotator repaired after Joe and I's little spill in the General! Gonna get some more recoil therapy for it before I go in!

I will find out at the end of May about the Book Cliffs tag. We are going to scout it later in the summer one way or the other, just to get a lay of the land and see what there is to see.

I can see why it always goes with you now! That must have just been terrible seeing those elk and knowing you had a rifle that could have reached them. I got to hold a Barrett today at the NRA convention in Pittsburgh and it was an absolute beast. I can see why 800yrds wouldn't even cause a second thought. Too bad I only got to handle it and not shoot it.

Re: Hunting pictures...cant wait for fall!!!!

Snagly;

I really need to move to your area and start getting tags! Seeing pictures like those just make me want to finish school and hunt for the rest of my life! Great kills and great animals. Also looks like you have a fine collection of 'hunting' rifles!
