I can walk into the local Gander or Bass pro and pick up Blackout ammo. I can't say the same for 6.8 SPC.
The reason why it's easy for people to swap over to the Blackout because they do not need a new bolt and magazine. A barrel swap and you are good to go. And ammo is getting really cheap for the Blackout as well. Can't say the same for the 6.8SPC. Most of the ammo is around a buck a round. </div></div>
Which Bass Pro shops? Which Gander Mountain? Not the ones where I live, and not online either....
However, there are about 15 Academy Sports in the greater Houston area (~130 in the Southeast)---they all carry Hornady and Remington 6.8 ammo.
If you want 6.8 ammo it is readily available, even my ho-dunk backwoods gunshop carries 6.8 ammo (though it doesn't stay on shelves long). I order online and usually pay between $.75-.85 per round shipped then sell my brass for $.30ea.
I also don't get the whole barrel swap thing; but then again I don't have guns/uppers just laying around, if something doesn't get used it gets sold and I buy something new. Mag interchangeability is a positive for the .300Blk---well, unless it results in you making a mistake where
this happens.
