I've posted in a couple threads already, so I may be ahead of myself a bit, but here goes.
39, M, 3 kids 4-14, beautiful wife that supports my love of firearms even though she doesn't necessarily like them herself.
No military/LEO/FR service. Cracked a vertebrae in my neck when I rolled a convertible at 17, which round-about meant a medical DQ. I'm now a softie that constantly looks into my kids eyes and recognizes how fortunate I was.
I hunt, fish, and camp. I am a rifle, pistol, and bow enthusiast. My oldest son is signed up for a youth class on how to hunt deer which should greatly add to his experience and knowledge base and help him be more successful than I have been. (I secretly hope to learn as much or more than he does...)
My country is in legitimate political danger; the military service member's sacrifice goes largely un-heeded by our major news media, and our VA is a bureaucratic crap-hole. We have commies actually proudly parading as wannabe revolutionaries that can't tell you what time of day it is and they get more media coverage than a presidential candidates that openly obstructed justice. Our president continually focuses on reforming our foreign agreements into deals that either are equally rewarding or favor America, and he's called an isolationist. You're a racist if you disagree, btw.
My goal is to change what I can; that is to thank every man and woman I see in uniform with a handshake and a "thank you for serving my country." It really is my honor to say as such. Thank all of you, really. This wouldn't be here if it weren't for your service, and for what you protect.
I am a Grendel AR fan, which led me to PRS using it just so I could shoot it farther, and learning a fair bit more about shooting than I thought I would. I shot my first match with my Grendel, which was the first time I'd ever dialed my scope after I had zeroed it. Between the small handicap the Grendel caliber presents, and the utter lack of experience and knowledge I think my score was 34/86 scoring hits at 300-935 yards. I had the opportunity to take a PRS prep class locally, and I can't wait to have some pieces come together so I can use those lessons and really lay them into my future performance. I've bought an Impact 737r, which is currently at a good smith and in line to be spun up into a 6.5 creed that I can get started more seriously with. I hope to participate much more next season.
I'm here because I have searched "how to" topics, and I kept reading more and more search results off this board. I guess I finally decided that it'd more beneficial if I could interact with a thread rather than just read it.
I've built 6 ARs for myself, and several with others, helping them with what I have learned when doing mine. Truing, bedding, assembly, lost parts...
It takes me longer to learn new things than most folks; my short term memory is horrible. I never remember names, but faces never leave my brain. I tend to jump the gun, especially when buying something I really want. I have much to learn, and make many dumb mistakes. Especially when I think I know something and it turns out I don't. But I stand up and admit being wrong, I face my shame and accept the teaching. Despite these faults, I hope to learn from all of you, and hope that you will take good care of me.
This is the fourth message board I've joined.
