Navy investigation finds that US nuclear-powered submarine hit uncharted underwater mountain

So they are blaming the chart makers.

Maybe silent sub architects should have took note from nature and added whiskers.

Maps can be quite precise but inertial navigation without active sonar can and does induce slight errors over distance and time , not to mention the south china sea is quite active in terms of volcanic activity and you literally have new rocks popping up from time to time.

But folks like stupid fantasy explanations for what happened

So.. Navy doesn't have any other ships doing mapping? No seismic sensors to know when new ones may have "popped up"?

Reminds me of the Navy ship that collided with a container ship. Because, those things can be sneaky fast.

That’s the thing about uncharted underwater mountains, they aren’t on the chart…

Shut the fuck up you foreign cunt

Stay in your lane. Reading from Wikipedia doesn't count.

NASA,USGS, USN, NRO all got together and mapped every square meter of our oceans... an unknown uncharted mountain is a load of crap.
Like said South China sea is volcanically active so new rocks pop up from time to time but would be more inclined to think sub was off course due to running silent.

Although folks claim inertial navigation is within a couple of feet, that is bullshit you are looking at up to 1 nautical mile error over 120-150hours in modern systems and the mile in much shorter time spans with older or less fancy SINS, without correcting for the error by determining the position through other sensor inputs, so skipping a couple of correction intervals adds up over time. And puff sub mets a rock.😵

I see the resident poodle is barking again. No matter sub stil hit a rock and not some super squirrel Chicom Sub

Given the royal clusterfuck that is our federal government your assumption that all of these agencies have shared their data with the DMAHTC in a timely enough manner for DMAHTC to
A. Change their charts
B. Distribute their charts to the entire USN, USCG, NOAA etc fleet

That being said I still think that they played bumper cars with a PLAN or Russian sub and everyone wants to cover it up so the PRC and PLAN don’t escalate an already bad situation in order to not lose face.

Here's our resident foreign cunt who's never set foot on a ship, never navigated anything anywhere, never served in any military force worth a shit telling us he's an INS expert of the highest caliber.

Who else is tired of this fuckstain?

Notice how they neglected to mention how deep the sub was. Gonna be hard to keep that uncharted mountain depth a secret. I’m honestly surprised this is what they said happened. I do not for a second believe that’s what happened.

I don't believe it for a moment. With today's sonar and probably other super squirrel stuff, I can't see this really happening.

i am not particularly concerned with the incompetence or mistakes of ocean floor mappers or submariners.
i mean compared to the fucktards in charge at the top, and all the assholes that went along with decades of bullshit "wars" abroad, it ain't shit.

I used to chase these things. The skipperers are the equivalent of a DEVGRU admiral. They are the absolute best of the best. These things run silent and they run deep. If it hit something I’d bet it was a man made chicom obstacle
