Has Weaver been available since I bought my K-6 50 years ago or did someone just buy the name. What is the story and do they are other models?

Weaver has been around since then though owned by others, now its vista outdoor who owns lots of companies. They are old tech now and not really up to date feature wise but still make a fine scope.

A 46 x 46 that was old tech would not even get a read, much less someone buy one. I will speak with someone tonight that will be running one today or tomorrow.
Weaver Optics have been discontinued by Vista earlier this year.
Weaver mounts are still marketed, I think.

Woah, really? Have any more info? I cant find anything on the web in my brief search about it.
I just ordered some tapered target turrets for my T36. I had to call Bushnell and the rep did confirm that they are now handling Weaver sales and support, and that the Weaver optics line has been discontinued. Weaver will still sell bases/rings/mounts. According to the rep I spoke with, they received a massive shipment of Weaver parts and were told they're now supporting Weaver, but received no product training. He said once the announcement was made, Weaver dealers have been ordering up the remaining inventory in a hurry. I guess it's time to keep an eye out for clearance sales. Though, it sounds like they're not going to be able to repair/replace anything.
To me, Weaver is the Ron Swanson of optics. Old school, out of touch, with some surprisingly high quality riflescopes...as basic as they are.
