Rifle Scopes I need a scope

For a Tikka 6.5 creedmoor used for hunting. I shove this thing in a scabbard a lot so I'd rather not have huge turrets and need zero stop. I'd rather not go over a 44 objective and upper end 15 to 18 is plenty. Hunting shots out to 600 and dicking off much farther. Doesn't have to have illuminated reticle but o.k. if it does. FFP in mils and HD glass preferred. No Leupolds. $1000 budget. So far the closest I've found is an Athlon Midas Tac but not having seen it in person I'm concerned about the height of the turrets and overall length.

if you like it get it , cause you could sell it later if you are unhappy with it and buy something nicer if that is still an option in a few months if biden really has won .will it have rings that will fit your rifle ? well which ever good luck may it all work out well for you . Its always better to have and not need than to need and not have that's a funny little saying that holds true for many things girls, money , gas , scopes , cars and toilet paper almost anything .

Good luck finding that in a ffp mill scope that also has a usable reticle in that price range.

My current hunting favorite is the mark 5 with capped windage and lock at zero elevation. Not because I love Leupold, but it was one of the cheapest options to get the feature set.

You just described an LRTS or LRHS. One of those has capped windage but don't recall which one. And they seem to be low profile, the turrets that is. The glass is really good and they have 44mm objective.

I’m going to recommend Burris XTR II for less than your budget or XTR III for a touch higher if you find some deals on here, for hunting. I’ve got a Bushnell DMRII also and would rank it just the same, bulletproof and tracks.

I’ve got a Kahles K525i on my match gun and it’s absolutely awesome but I’ve been using a Burris XTR II 5-25 on my 243 AI deer/coyote gun and the thing is awesome and tracks 100%, takes a beating, and is easy for my eye. I’m not shooting in such low light conditions that glass quality holds me back.

The Burris glass doesn’t compare to Kahles (or other similar high end glass) at all, but if you’re not counting points on a buck at mile it won’t hold you back. I’ve shot some coyotes recently at 500 yards with my Burris and it’s more than enough scope even at 5-10 power.

I’d really like the XTR III 3-18 for hunting since I never take my 5-25 over 12-15 power unless I’m eyeing something way far off.

I really think for hunting it’s a matter of having a reliable scope you’re comfortable with, the Burris does it for me. Drawback for you would be fitting the XTR II in a scabbard but perhaps the XTR III 3-18 would work.

I actually really like the Mark 5 too and it would work well for that gun. I'm just a little short on funds for it and don't care for the other Leupolds.

I run 3 of the LRHS (OG version of the LRTSi) and am quite happy.

Zero stop is good, but check your turret before shooting.

Havent used the others, but these are good hunting/shooting scopes.
0.5 wind holds messes with me a bit target shooting at distance at times.
Just need more practice!!

I've got both and they're both on hunting rifles, they work, the bushnell is nicer but the Athlon hasn't given me any issues.

I'm an Athlon fan, really like the Midas TAC 6-24x50. But I've also used Bushnell 4.5-18x44 LRHS scopes on three 6XC hunting/light tactical rifles I've built for myself. Only reason I've built three of them is that customers talked me out of the first two, and wanted the LRHS that I had mounted on them. The glass of these LRHS is very good; haven't seen or handled the newer LRTS version, so can't comment. But I really like the low elevation turret with its zero stop, and the capped windage turret. My bet is that you'll not regret going with one of these scopes.

I think FFP is a bad idea for most hunting situations; unless all your shots are going to be long ones.
