Ok so I own a Remington 700 SPS tactical .308. This is my first bolt action rifle and I am clueless as to important considerations when purchasing a high end stock. I am planning on buying a Mcmillan A4 stock. I don't have a clue as to the barrel contour I need to order and do I need to have an idea of the next barrel I will replace the stock barrel with? Do I need to buy the detatchable magazine system I plan to use and have it inletted when I buy the stock or can that be done later? Please any advice would be a huge help!!! Sorry for my ignorance! Thank you!

Not trying to be a smart aleck here, but I would call McMillan and spend some time on the phone with them.
Barrel contour and channel- You'll need a channel to fit the barrel you currently have, and yes, I would get the channel for barrel you intend to install later. However; you can always have your new barrel contoured to match your current barrel contour. Pick your poison there.
Bottom metal- You can have the inletting done later, but as long a McMillan stocks take to be delivered you have time to get the stock with the bottom metal inlet, purchase the bottom metal, and await it's arrival. McMillan has a pretty long wait time.

I agree with everything that AA just said. Additionally, you can always have the barrel channel opened later if you decide to use a heavier contour barrel in the future.

Larger barrel channel won't be noticed by your barrel since it's free-floated anyway.
Changing (inletting) the stock for the DBM is going to be an added expense later; if it's definitely part of the plan I'd bite the bullet and do it all nw.

Mcmillan will make and inlet the stock for your spec. Plan on 8 month wait time. If you want it faster, an option is to buy a marble basic inlet A4 stock that Brunos has in stock and send it to PCR to have Kieth or some other gun smith of your choice inlet it for your action and mag choice and then cerakoted your color choice.

I got sick and tired of waiting forever for a lightweight stock from these composite stock makers. Then, when you finally get your stock you have to fit the bottom metal, bed it and wait forever for a gunsmith to get it done so I designed my own system that eliminates all that. You just bolt in your barreled action and you are ready to go to the range. To be honest by the time you buy all the components to run bottom metal in a composite stock and have it fitted you are pretty much at the same price of a chassis. You might want to check out some of the chassis systems. If you are really wanting a composite stock check out Stocky's stocks they might be able to get you something quicker. Or check with Greg at Southern Precision Rifles (Southern Precision Rifles), he has been able to get me actions and barrels much quicker than other places. Hope that helps
100% spot on. By the time you spend the money in setting up a Manners/Mcmillian, and all the other shit that has to be fitted and replaced.... you might as well just get a chassis. Which, is for you to decide OP. I personaly love the KRG W3, but there are many others at lower price points that do bassicaly the same thing. You will get features and adjustability you wont get with a traditional.
