To me it depends on what you want it to do because at the end of the day it is a tool. I am assuming that because you posted in this forum that you are going to be putting it on a gas gun of some sort. Almost any reputable suppressor company makes an offering that works. None of them actually make the rifle hearing safe if you are shooting supersonic. At this point I tend to focus on not getting gas in my face, flash reduction, durability, mounting system, cost.

I own four Huxwrx, two Surefire, two Dead Air, one Silencerco, one B&T.

If I could go back in time and do it again, I would focus on 30 cal cans because they suppress most calibers shot in small frame gas ARs just fine. I prefer Iconel/Steel cans over Titanium (I choose durability over weight savings). I don't think I would currently buy a suppressor that does not have some level of flow through or reduced back pressure technology. So for me, I would rather have something like the Hux 30 cal and a couple of muzzle devices so that I can use it on multiple rifles.

Surefire for me. I’ll take durability/longevity over anything else. The weight is really not an issue either. Of course, opinions vary.

Surefire SOCOM556 is what I run on my AR's. I really like the Surefire mounts. However also have had Griffin, which is also an excellent choice.

Ill second the Griffin, I run one of their HRT cans on an 11.5. Its not to gassy, seems durable as shit and sounds nice.

Yes. Very.

I’m well aware that a couple new flow through designs have gained popularity recently, and that’s good, but before that, the SOCOM series was one of the foremost leaders in low back pressure design.

Newer cans being even lower back pressure doesn’t suddenly make Surefire high back pressure.

So far, the trade offs that have been associated with flow through cans hasn’t made them worth it for my uses when low back pressure cans like the RC2 exist. I do expect this to change.

Everyone is all over the place recommending their favorite can but no one is asking if the OP can afford, or wants to spend that much on everyone's pet can.

YHM, Otter Creek and AB via their Warthog line rule the roost for value cans IMO.

Anything more expensive than that comes down to this:

Do you want a secondary lock/one piece can?
How important is military/LE pedigree to you?
Can you spend 1k or more on a can?
Do you need hub compatibility?
