Has anyone shot or had experience with the Iron Brigade Armory rifles? I know they cost lots of $ but I am wondering about their accuracy and quality of their work. Compared to other builders how would thye rate?
I would go with GAP, APA, TacOps, or a few others out there long before I would shell out my own money for an IBA setup. Yes, I've shot them. No, I don't feel they're worth the money, especially for the components used.
I own a "Chandler Sniper Rilfe". Its about 7 years old and shoots great, never a problem with the rifle. The ordering process was easy, they were easy to deal with, even swapping scopes for me at the last minute, and there was only about a 2 month delay from the promised shipping date. I was relatively ignorant about the custom build community at the time so I ended up paying a premium to the Chandler's. That was my learning tax. I would not pay that premium again despite the good experience. There are too many other fine builders out there from which to choose. Pick just about any builder here that gets consistently good reviews and you will be all set.
I can say that just from reading this on their "About us" page I don't ever have to worry about dealing with them:
"A call or email to Iron Brigade will probably result in personal conversation with one of the Chandlers. Their individualized service is a rarely encountered phenomenon in this day of cheaply hired phone-answerers who seldom know anything useful. Do not waste yours or their time on breeze-shooting calls. These are busy and serious, experts, who are not above suggesting that you read a lot more before you call again."
While I respect the skill it takes to put a quality bolt gun together its not so rare as to explain some of the attitudes and practices I see some places. Never understand it. I am guessing there must be some group of people out there who think stuff like above is a sign of dealing with real "serious" people and eat that shit up. Oh well...operators got operate I guess.
